Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
That isn’t what I do, nor what the vast majority of my congregation does either.
I agree that there is apathy in the Body, but it doesn’t extend to ALL Christians and certainly not me.
Don’t think we are slouching towards hell...,more like speeding towards it.
Great book i read recently about this is by Dr David Jeremiah: “ I Never Thought I would see the Day” or something close to that. Dr Jeremiah goes through Scripture that points to why things are going the way they are

Slouching towards hell.
Seems like an all out sprint at times.
Bingo!
No offense intended to our Catholic brethren ;o)
From the Torchbearer Society:
I believe that we must raise the cross
at the center of the marketplace
as well as on the steeple of the church.
I do not believe that Jesus was crucified
in a church between two candles,
but on a cross between two thieves,
at a crossroads of politics
so cosmopolitan
they had to write his title
in Hebrew
in Latin,
and in Greek.
At the kind of place
where cynics talk smut,
and thieves curse,
and soldiers gamble.
Because that is where He died.
and that is what He died about.
And that is where the church ought to be.
and that is what church people ought
to be about.
Actually, a great many Christians were fighting those trends in our society. But since this is a post-Christian society, we don’t have the numbers...
“Actually, a great many Christians were fighting those trends in our society. But since this is a post-Christian society, we dont have the numbers...”
Yep, and also a lot of us were told to essentially save our breath now because judgement has been ordained. I still periodically send up a “please let us be as Nineveh” though.
From The prophetic words of the late Avery Cardinal Dulles...
With the progressive de-Christianization of society it is inevitable, I think, that the church will suffer some defections and a measure of disaffection on the part of many who remain. Some of those who leave will join churches whose teaching seems more consonant with modern secular thinking. Others will find Catholicism too complicated, and will embrace severer styles of Christianity, such as those found in biblicist sects. These negative developments will have to be countered by measures designed to increase the numbers and the loyalty-Avery Cardinal Dulles
Sometimes I think we have already jumped over the side of the cliff and its too late to change it back.

Um, I’m confused. What is the point of your comment??
Well as a believer and doer of the Word via Jesus’ spirit, I too get depresses when evil seems to be winning. There are still ways to fight evil but it must be one on one sometimes and then it must be communal. Money still counts in this society so supporting Christian, real Christian causes helps. Marches do not nor does violence though for once I would like Fire from heaven consuming, say the Iranian nuke plants. But, supporting missions, food-clothing kitchens, home schooling, things like Precious Lamb which as in many areas, helps kids who have rotten parents. Even petitions help if if one can use political pressure to push a theme. Of course, parents, schools, and churches all have failed in the last 7 decades as secular-liberal-humanism has gained much ground. But, much can be still fought if one has the will. God told Joshua, Be strong, be courageous. Two traits that both Christians and frankly conservs, Pubs need today to face political evil.
That's exactly right...and the trends today show this is the case. A great falling away from Christianity to something else as the nation opens it's arms to every false and misleading ideals, false religions, and or distortions of Christianity....and the masses follow whatever Piper of their choosing. Oblivious to the dangers....and unconconcerned for the outcomes.
I did not expect to see this in my day.... I knew it was coming....just much faster then I thought possible.
Had the public supported Newt I saw a chance...and still do but it's slim at best. However God does seem to enter the affiars of men when all seems to be at loss so I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psalm 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Psalm 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Psalm 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Psalm 2:5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Psalm 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Psalm 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psalm 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Psalm 2:10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Psalm 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psalm 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
My Dad was killed in Vietnam after 27 years in the military. I spent 26 years in the military. Let’s just say I never thought I’d see the day where the gay flag was flown in a US military post...but it is here, and the majority of Americans are OK with it.
I don’t know how to pray for America any more.
Thank you for your service. But would you recommend it to young men these days?
