In light of an alleged self-defense killing of 17-year-old unarmed Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman, Floridas concealed weapons laws have been thrust into the spotlight. Most residents can obtain concealed weapons permits, according to state law.
In California, in contrast, residents must contact their local police department or county Sheriffs Office, as rules differ by region. San Mateo County residents may obtain Concealed Weapons permits (CCP), which allows them to legally to carry a loaded "a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed on the person.

Oh, I don't live there, I live in the east bay. A buddy of mine gave me the heads up. This was apparently done for Menlo Park And Half Moon Bay too.
Apparently One of the gun rights organizations put up a spirited responce on the papers reply column, including the reporters address and phone number, and then the replys column for the site was "sanitized", deleting about 60% of the posts and removing that info plus I think closing it to further commentary.

Last time I checked, the Undersheriff of San Mateo County was investigated for spending time in a Nevada brothel. That was about 5 years ago.

The local fish wrap won a court case against the previous governor about ccw records being public, so the state legislature changed the law to make them private.
If my ever name gets posted, I’ll sue their asses in half.
