The Trayvon Martin Tragedies
The recent killing of Trayvon Martin needs more investigation. But where's the outrage over the daily scourge of black-on-black crime?
By JUAN WILLIAMS The shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida has sparked national outrage, with civil rights leaders from San Francisco to Baltimore leading protests calling for a new investigation and the arrest of the shooter.
But what about all the other young black murder victims? Nationally, nearly half of all murder victims are black. And the overwhelming majority of those black people are killed by other black people. Where is the march for them?
Where is the march against the drug dealers who prey on young black people? Where is the march against bad schools, with their 50% dropout rate for black teenaged boys? Those failed schools are certainly guilty of creating the shameful 40% unemployment rate for black teens.
How about marching against the cable television shows constantly offering minstrel-show images of black youth as rappers and comedians who don't value education, dismiss the importance of marriage, and celebrate killing people, drug money and jailhouse fashionthe pants falling down because the jail guard has taken away the belt, the shoes untied because the warden removed the shoe laces, and accessories such as the drug dealer's pit bull.
Supposedly all of this is just entertainment and intended to co-opt the stereotypes. But it only ends up perpetuating stereotypes in white minds and, worse, having young black people internalize it as an authentic image of a proud black person.
There is no fashion, no thug attitude that should be an invitation to murder. But these are the real murderous forces surrounding the Martin deathand yet they never stir protests.

Juan’s the man.
The man understands there is no utopian fantasy land and reality is just too real to lie to himself about!
How similar to Ken Stein who spoke today at my synagogue!
(Ken Stein is the Carter Center Fellow who quit the Carter Center and Carter's inner circle over Carter's book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid. He is now a history professor at Emory University.)
The gist of his talk was to reject "narrative" in favor of "history, history being all the facts positive and negative, and narrative being only facts and sometimes invention to bolster the history of a particular group of people. (So he suggested e.g. the black narrative doesn't bother to include that blacks were first sold into slavery by other black.)
I thought I was really going to like this guy. But when it came to Obama, it was all sweetness and light, just doing his best for the American People. Some people are just so conditioned by their upbringing that they can not break free of their leftwing chains. Williams is another one. Everyone knows he knows better, but he just cannot break free.

The shooter may have been justified, but he is still responsible for pulling the trigger. It didn’t pull itself.
We have seen from photos and tweets that Trayvon had started to embrace the thug mindset. He could have rejected it. He didn't.
So he was on the path to the very lifestyle choices that give whites (and many blacks, as the Jesse Jackson quote clearly indicates) good reason to be fearful of an unknown black walking down a sidewalk with a thuggish demeanor.
So I don't see unfair weight on Trayvon. I have known blacks who act and dress like the middle-class professionals they are and they still draw attention from the cops for simply being out in public. I have seen it myself happen to them. And it sucks. But those are the men who are truly bearing the unfair weight of the likes of those like Trayvon who embrace the thug culture - and worse, those who act it out at the expense of society in general.
If a-holes like Al Sharpton spent more time promoting what Juan Williams and Bill Cosby are saying to blacks, and less time condemning those men, maybe, just maybe, Trayvon would have had a mentoring influence to do well in school and stay away from bad influences. Instead, any such man often suffers attacks from other blacks for acting white. The die for this situation has been cast by decades of so-called black leaders refusing to accept a collective responsibility for the sad state of urban blacks, and instead continuing to blame white America for those failures.
That’s what I’m thinking happened. This is a matter of life or death scream, pure panic, how someone reacts if they think they are about to die.
(And I’ve been in that situation) Fighting in reality is nothing like the movies where they exchange punches and kicks. What happens is wrestling, and what I think happened is this kid felt he got “dissed” did a gangsta “one punch” on Zimmerman, or what everyone else likes to call a “sucker punch” and from there the wrestling took place, and Zimmerman out of panic knew he could be killed if this kid got the gun.
Let’s look at the alternative theory:
Zimmerman beats the kid. Well that didn’t happen as they confirmed Tray-von didn’t have a mark on him other than the gunshot wound.
Zimmerman did......
So if Trayvon wasn’t beat and was the one screaming, what was he screaming about? That the gun was pointed at him? Maybe, but I highly doubt it would garner this type of scream. I’ve had a gun pointed at me twice when I use to drove a taxi in New Yor city in the 1980s, and all I did was freeze “take it take it take it”.
No, the likely scenario is this kid attacked Zimmerman and Zimmerman went into a panic. Zimmermans family also says without a doubt that is him screaming. I would know the voice of my own son or brother screaming without a doubt.
Being that this Trayvon was into gangsta rap, it would be insteresting to see if he made any recordings of himself.
Let’s compare recordings of Trayvon and Zimmerman and let an expert decide who was screaming.
You make a statement when you decide what to wear and how to act.
If you choose to dress and act like a criminal, because that is “cool” or “authentically black,” I fail to see why other people should not judge you accordingly.
I first became aware of this back in the late 60s. All the hippies were yakking about how unfair it was for them to be judged based on their hairstyle and attire.
The problem is that this hairstyle and attire was the rough equivalent of carrying a sign aimed at “squaresville Americans.” The sign said “I hate and despise everything you believe in and hold sacred.”
It seemed perfectly logical to me for squares to react appropriately to such a sign.
Most uncanny likeness, don’t you think?
And, the vast majority were murdered with illegally obtained guns by perps who were not law-abiding citizens.

My response if buying more ammunition today at Academy.
When Zero loses badly in November, there will be riots in the streets saying “racism”.
I will welcome them showing up at my door or at my business.
>No, that would be a little too much reality for Juan.<
.
Juan is not dumb, but because he is a liberal he has to act that way.
It gives the MSM an excuse for not presenting the facts.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe the cops played that tape for Trayvons father during the initial investigation and he said it did not sound like his son screaming.
...where's the outrage over the daily scourge of black-on-black crime? It's submerged in the anti-social, snitches-get-stiches anarchy of the hood. A better question is, where's the outrage -- or even national coverage -- of the black-on-white crime? Juan Williams remains a partisan media shill, in the bag for Zero.
“It ain’t the schools, it is the anti-educational attitude of thug culture. Any black kid who tries to do well is accused of being an Oreo or of acting white.”
It is the absolute lack of a culture; compare “African Americans” to blacks from British-influenced cultures; they are night & day (pardon the pun).
But, if black kids act white, then they are ostracized by some blacks who embrace the ghetto and gang culture.
Sorry Juan, the media mission is to institute marxism, keep 0bama in power and dehumanize Conservatives. Why not
call them out on it?
And that has apparently pained him a great deal, from what I understand.
I’m not certain if I would have reacted the same way had it been me.
I have to give George credit here, he has a heart and soul, and I respect him.
Martin’s picture is on the cover of a weekly mag - Time/Newsweek - one of those. A cute little twelve year old - what a travesty!
Hey, Juan:
Where is your disertation about the Kansas City kid —white—who was set upon by black kids, had gasoline poured on him and then was set on fire???
No one seems to have the balls to bring this up on national media.
Shame on you for your so obvious bias.
