At first glance, the death of Trayvon Martin seemed to be a straightforward example of ugly, racial conflict resulting in the killing of an innocent black teenager by a white man, George Zimmerman. But now, as evidence continues to come forward, the facts seem much more complicated and the "obvious truth" premature.
...
To make matters more complex, we found out that in the past several months, Martin was suspended from school three times, once for the possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Miami Herald reported that in the gated community in which Zimmerman patrolled, there were eight burglaries, nine thefts and one shooting in the past year. Neighbors of Zimmerman described him as being passionate about security and credit him with thwarting and cracking some crimes. It was also revealed that Zimmerman identified himself as a Hispanic and was a registered Democrat.
The facts are confounding and inconclusive. But the tendency in the first days by some, including Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and an angry chorus of followers, was to rush to judgment with little regard for fairness, due process, or respect for the terrible death of a young man.
A mob mentality seems to be in the ascendancy.
The New Black Panther Party offered a bounty for Zimmerman's capture.
Jackson said that Martin's death shows how "blacks are under attack" and "targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business." Apart from the obvious incendiary nature of such comments, what in heaven's name could Jackson mean?

And i DO see exactly what the media is doing, but I’m smart enough to see past it.
I can’t stand Shep Smith. I had read previous reports on FR that he was making nice to another man in a NY bar.
Trey bon = Trey mal : )
The author may be a bit too conservative for most leftists though . . .
Tres bon!
Me too.
You’re prejudiced too? Congratulations.
Let me analyze just a part of Bill's article.
“At first, it was thought”
BY WHOM? MEDIA? YOU?
“that Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, was the aggressor”
WHERE WOULD ANYONE GET THAT IDEA? An eye witness, John, told the police that night that Zimmerman was attacked by Martin. (police arrived on scene 26 Feb 7:17 pm.) Told a Fox 35 reporter, THE NEXT DAY, (Monday, 27 Feb 2012, 4:55 PM EST) That Martin was the attacker, and Zimmerman was crying out for help.

“because he followed Martin,” Initially yes, but gave up doing that after being told he need not continue to follow suspicious subject, and was returning to his car when attacked BY MARTIN.
“got into a physical scuffle with him and shot him.” WOW how big a truck can I drive through this brilliant statement?
Insinuating that Zimmerman started a fight with Martin and Zimmerman immediately shot Martin.
“But then” NO, IN THE BEGINNING!
“some witnesses” ???? How about an EYE and EAR witness whose apartment windows over look (in very close proximity) to the beating and shooting.
“claim” ???? Just a “claim”? How about testified, reported, told police, stated unequivocally, how about one of those instead?
“that Martin attacked Zimmerman first” FIRST? implying what? That Zimmerman had attacked Martin first earlier? First “this time”? The word “first” in this sentence is totally unnecessary and only confuses the issue.
“and the initial police report said that Zimmerman had blood on his nose and the back of his head after the incident.” While accurate, it is not the whole truth and self serving, when seemingly contradicted by the immediate following sentence...
“However”, AH HA! NOW the REAL truth.
“surveillance video footage that surfaced from the police station is leading to questions about the extent of Zimmerman's injuries.”
“leading to questions about” how long you've been beating your wife.
This claim is just despicable. The video shows NO SUCH THING. The video (enhanced) actually shows the exact opposite! Tieing this video to an assumption that Zimmerman was not injured, is disgusting! Propaganda by a Marxist press. WHY? Just to strike a match in a room full of dynamite or gun powder?
The news media in this country is the REAL enemy. It's not Obama, Reid, or Pelosi. THEY MUST BE DESTROYED! Confronted at every opportunity. We can win total victory only after the Marxist media is defeated.
Our president was actually the lead man holding the rope to lynch Zimmerman. And all the useful democrat fools fell right in step. Rosanne, Sharpton, Lee, Jackson, MSM to name a few. We must politically destroy these socialist democrat losers who would turn the US into a third world country to satisfy their WARPED IDEALOGICAL VIEWS. The democrats think 2010 was bad, they ain’t seen bad yet, but it coming real soon.
This is an attempt at CYA. They have led the klam with a tan rally and they have blood on their hands. People have been murdered by racist blacks as a result of the CNN’s race hate incitment.
According to police, One shot, body face down on the ground with hands underneath.

FACT!!
I live in a “gated community” in Palm Beach County. I figure that it is about 10% minority. Usually no problems. Kids of all colors play and skateboard in the streets together.
No doubt about it, when people hear the term Gated Community, most envision a McMansion conclave.
Nothing more, nothing less...and says nothing about the person who makes the most common assumption.
Thanks!
If wherever you go folks tell you they smell fish, at a certain point you have to start thinking it might not be them.
>>>No doubt about it, when people hear the term Gated Community, most envision a McMansion conclave.
They would be bigots. And prejudiced. I’m not among them.
Mountain, meet molehill : )
It's an op-ed from a token conservative.
CNN made sure that they didn’t use one of their own.
