The article at the link, along with that flattering photo, were above the fold on USA Today in the paper machine where I got dinner. The big, bold type read: "If y'all come to get me, bring body bags," while the subtype said something about the "Rise in Anti-Government" something or other.
Just a few years ago, "dissent" was "patriotic."
Now it's extreme.
The rapid growth, according to the law center, has been fueled by a collision of factors, from the troubles related to the struggling economy and foreclosure crisis to the election of President Barack Obama, the nation's first Black president. Obama's election prompted a "backlash" from extremist groups
Yes, that's it, Media.
Mods, if I didn't do this right, can you simple make the edit instead of trashing the whole thing and banning me?

disclaimer to the Feds: I do not own fatigues, have an underground hideaway, or support insurrection.
But the portrayal of this! Standing there waiting for my flounder, I looked at that and felt guilty just for being a patriot.
And about insurrection: why are these pigs running pieces like this when the New Black Panthers is putting bounties on people and celebrities like Al Sharpton get TV time to call for an "escalation in civil disobedience?"
Praytell?

"What he said was this: 'If y'all come to get me, bring body bags,' " said Thomas, now a local justice of the peace. Thomas remembers the message clearly, not because of its unvarnished threat, but because -- after 12 years -- Gray, who doesn't acknowledge the authority of any government, continues to dare police to come and get him. Sequestered on a 50-acre, wooded compound in eastern Texas since jumping bail more than a decade ago, Gray and his clan have effectively outlasted the administrations of four local sheriffs, all of whom have decided that Gray's arrest is not worth the risk of a violent confrontation. "The risk of loss of life on both ends is far too great," said Anderson County District Attorney Doug Lowe, who first sought to prosecute Gray involving a Christmas Eve 1999 assault on Texas Trooper Jim Cleland. "I believed it then; I still feel that way." The stalemate, perhaps the longest-running standoff in the U.S. between law enforcement and a fugitive living in plain sight, is also emblematic of what the FBI believes is a troubling re-emergence of an anti-government movement that vaulted to notoriety in 1995. Very interesting.
Ya know, I run into people who've lost it all, or most of what they'd worked for decades for. To be honest, some of these people just no longer give a damn about dying, or little of anything else. Calling them extreme is an understatement.
Pissed off to the core, with boiling contempt, would be a much better description.

Pissed off to the core, with boiling contempt, would be a much better description. The unbelievable actions of the leaders of the land in the past week lead me to believe they are trying to bring it to a confrontation.
Shades of "Gideon's Trumpet" (Colson).

I understand and agree.
However, those you mentioned harbor fabricated, phony anger, in an attempt to gain unquestioned power/money, personal gain etc.
My point was, there are lots of people in the U.S. today, who've been pushed way too far and are simply not going to take it anymore, regardless of consequences.

The left have been trying to demonize independent minded Americans as radicals for years in an attempt to draw Americans into “the loving genital hands of their Big Government.”

There's a lot of freedom seeking on the horizon.

The "lyrics" in question seem more closely to follow this, from Dylan's "Positively Fourth Street:"
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse...
When you ain't got nuthin you got nuthin to lose...
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal...
How does it FEEEEL?!

I dig the Hendrix version, from Monterey, where it is revealed that Jimi was quite a kidder.

The rapid growth, according to the law center, has been fueled by a collision of factors, from the troubles related to the struggling economy and foreclosure crisis to the election of President Barack Obama, the nation's first Black radical communist president. Obama's election prompted a "backlash" from extremist groupsSO... it has nothing to do with his socialist anti-freedom policies???

John Joe Gray with his son, Timothy, and daughter, Ruth, at their compound last week. For more than 11 years, they have lived on a 47-acre strip of Trinity River bottomland, about 100 miles southeast of Fort Worth. Photo: Joyce Marshall, Fort Worth Star-Telegram / HC
For 12 years now, he has refused to be taken alive and in a long-ago letter to authorities, the family warned officials to "bring extra body bags," if they come for him. Authorities kept tabs on the compound for months but haven't maintained an active presence for years.
