Peter Schickele was booted out of his teaching job at Julliard 50 years ago because he wrote a piece called "Variations on a Rock and Roll Theme". Now on his own, Schickele "discovered" P.D.Q. Bach, the oddest of Bach's nineteen-odd children, and the rest is history.

In 1984, Schickele staged PDQ's opera "The Abduction of Figaro" and recorded the event on tape, now available on DVD. In this opera, Schickele satirizes the conventions of Mozart's operas, and the result is hilarious even if you know nothing about opera.
