In TM’s girlfriend's report to the media, she states that TM approached Z and asked “Why are you following me or are you following me?”
Z answered question with a question: “What are you doing in the neighborhood?”

Then she heard the scuffle begin....phone went dead.

She said she told him, (if he was close to home), just run home. According to Z’s 911 call TM did take off running and disappeared. Z was heading back to truck when TM reappeared with the verbal confrontation.

Nothing in that indicates it was Martin who struck first - it only shows that Martin was suspicious of why this man was following him.
