Pro-Romney 'super PAC' nears $40 million spent against Santorum, Newt

If attracting the attention – and the dollars – of the "super PAC" backing Mitt Romney is any indication of clout in the 2012 presidential campaign, Rick Santorum notched a new distinction this week as he became the candidate who had suffered the largest barrage of negative spending by the PAC.

As this interactive graphic shows, the pro-Romney “Restore Our Future” super PAC has been the powerhouse in the presidential race, spending more than $39 million since early December to oppose Santorum and Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich had been the key target in December and January, but that trend shifted suddenly in early February as Gingrich failed to build on his win in South Carolina and Santorum started picking up victories.

As of this week, Restore Our Future has now spent more than $20 million to oppose Santorum, compared with $18.7 million to oppose Gingrich.

And that isn’t even counting the UNregistered Superpac = Fox News.

If we tried to quantify the years worth of polling that was supposed to demonstrate how Obama fared against the Republican candidate, the defacto Republican candidate which was almost always Romney

plus all of the incessant Romney pimping among most of their paid pundits

plus all of the omission of material facts that would have ENDED his campaign like lying for the past year about supposedly NOT supporting the mandate at the federal level

You can probably add another 40 million dollars to the tally.

So what did his money buy him?

He hasn’t gained much from conservatives and he already has the moderates and Rino’s.

What a undeserving man to be near the White House.

Newt has a big heart to even speak nice about Romney.

I would be more sore but shows why Newt is above Romney.

Let’s hear it for “party unity” around the miscreant Romney who made this primary into a national disgrace by ripping his rivals to shreds with vicious lies and smears, because, like obama, Romney can’t run on his record either.

No. He stutters and stammers. He needs a teleprompter too.

He can only speak about conservative policies in broad terms because it doesn’t come naturally to him.....when he gets into details he’s kind of lost.

Exactly so. Those policies were written by others for him and he will need a teleprompter to articulate them, if he's called upon to give a serious speech.

He would fall flat on his face in a serious Q & A, which is why he stays away from the media. Again, he's just like Obama, but the press is not on his side.

Well, there goes the theory that Santorum would have been destroyed like Gingrich if Romney devoted the same amount of effort to attacking him. Romney’s PAC has spent more attacking Santorum, but Santorum has done incredibly well with as little funds, staff, and media support as he has gotten. Romney has the best shot at winning, but Romney has been running for President for the past 6 years and dumped loads of money, and he still has not been able to get the conservative base. He’s been able to get moderates and unenthusiastic conservatives who think he has the best shot at beating Obama. Romney doesn’t run on his merits; he runs on attack ads. While they seem to work with a section of our populace, what will happen when the tables are turned? He’s going to get a big dose of his own medicine when a well funded, organized Obama faces him.

Watch this stupid Pac of Romney be out of money for the fall and to not have enough to counter Obama. The GOP seems to not want to win the election this fall.

Brokered convention is the only chance left so I’m all for it. Might as well bitch to the GOP-E and get them angry. I would love a Delaware style showdown, where a guy ran out of the room when he couldn’t stand the heat of the questions about why they left Christine O’Donnell lost the general election for senate. If I recall right the guy admitted he hated her and fled the room angry and left building.

This may be the way to break the GOP apart: from within, by the liberals.

By his poisonous attacks on the other Republican competitors, Rmoney (which R stands for ‘repellent’) forfeited any right to represent the conservatism in America.

He has been already using one.

If the Supreme Court dumps Obama”care,” then the Republicans must be ready to dump Obama”care” also.

To Replace or modify Obama”care” would result in The Republican Party ceasing to represent the 66 % of Americans that for years have opposed Obama”care.”

The overwhelming endorsements by the RNC-E of Romney, the Godfather of Obama”care,” is a very convincing indication that the RNC will betray the voters and Replace Obama”care.”

Replace Obama”care” and the voters will replace the Republican Party.

The era of the “Big Tent” will be over.
