DETROIT (CBS 62) Rev. Jesse Jackson stopped by the Michigan Matters set to talk with host Carol Cain about developments in the Trayvon Martin murder case and the emergency manager saga playing out in Detroit.
Jackson also offered a frank assessment of Gov. Rick Snyders dealings with the Motor City financial crisis. You cant separate the largest organ in your body from who you are, he said about the states relationship with the city. Detroit doesnt have a problem, Michigan has a problem. Why is Detroit in crisis? We bailed out the automotive industry but the city has not been able to be part of that.
Jackson fought against the proposed consent agreement between the state and Detroit, saying I cannot fathom suspending our democracy in the name of emergency There should be a bigger table for an emergency summit meeting.
And he took on the issue of the Detroit minister Malik Shabazz who told everyone at the recent emergency manager meeting residents would burn the city down before giving it over to an outside group for financial oversight.
If the man said that on the council
I would take it more seriously
I can understand expressing pain. That should not characterize the mood of Detroit
They want Detroit to come alive and I think we should focus on that.

We want to save the ship. If we have to toss the Captain overboard to do that, so be it.
Oh, I thought “words matter”. They certainly do when the left parses every word from the right for “dog whistles”.
Nope, I want him keel hauled.
No Jesse...Our Captain is crazy like the pilot of the JetBlue plane. We need to lock him out of the cockpit before he can do any more damage......
I call it racist for him to use the term “ship!” because they used to ship slaves........./s
throw his first mate Jessie the Race Pimp Jackson and his Sargent at arms Al Sharpton overboards with him!
No, not at all. That is not why I saw the writing on the wall and got the heck out of there almost 40 years ago.
Jesse Jackson needs the TEA Party so he has an audience, the fornicating POS. A friend of mine works in a black school district here in NJ, and she said the outrage felt by the black teachers was palpable when his “baby-daddy” story broke. Here he was lecturing black youth about children out of wedlock, and Oops!
That was when he lost his throne to Al Sharpton, who has retained the title of “King Of All Blacks” ever since. Remember the bitter power struggle, with Al pointing out that he didn’t have to wipe MLK’s blood on his shirt?
Good times, and great payback for the GWB DWI story...
Detroit doesnt have a problem...”
Is he talking about the Tigers? Yeah man, they’re GRRRREAT!
Oh, I get it now...how stupid of me.
been had, this race baiting POS......He be done,no mo credability
Helmsman: What should we do?
Captain: Increase speed!
Nah, you’re not stupid, you confused them with Tony the Tiger.
I want to sink the USS Obama in order to save the USS America.
The People are the Captain of the Ship. The TOTUS is just the pilot and can be tossed overboard at will.
If people in Detroit want their city to ‘come alive’ they need make it happen. That DOES NOT include shaking down people in other cities - cities that made better decisions.
Here’s a hint - every industry that became heavily unionized, left. Went overseas.. Unions kill jobs in the long run.
Detroit’s a Democrat city - let them come up with a democrat solution. They can tax EACH OTHER - and share that wealth. Or they can raise city pensions to a million each - and share THAT wealth. Or give everyone in the city unlimited FREE health care - by TAXING THEIR OWN RESIDENTS... Let’s see liberalism in action - when the folks there gotta pay for it.
No, Jessie. The ship’s already run aground. We just want to replace the interloping captain so we can move on when the next tide comes in.
“We want to save the ship. If we have to toss the Captain overboard to do that, so be it.”
EXACTLY!!!
