Psssh! Actual immigrants from Spain are not the race whom I or most people are referring to when using the term “Hispanic”—but I presume you know that.

Spaniards are considered European and not in need of continuing aid. It is the pre-Columbian, Mongol-descent Latin American Indian population that has the relevant racial connotation.

per David Bernstein:

"The grandaddy of them all, of course, was Barry Goldwater, who had a Jewish father. He was raised as a Christian by his mother, though it doesn't appear that he was especially religious. Goldwater was, by all accounts, proud of his Jewish heritage, but this aspect of his background played what seems today like a strange role in the 1964 campaign. From what I can tell, his handlers sought to play down his Jewish background, referring to his grandfather as a "Polish immigrant" (including in the speech given to nominate him.) Given that "Poland" didn't exist when the Goldwaters came to the U.S. in the mid-19th century, and that they were ethnically Jewish, not Polish, this was a bit misleading. If his family had been German-speaking residents of the Russian empire, instead of Yiddish-speaking, do you think they would have been referred to the Goldwaters as Polish immigrants? Meanwhile, the Jewish community, near as I can tell, was equally eager to downplay Goldwater's Jewish background. Neither of my parents, for example, was even aware that Goldwater was ethnically half-Jewish, until I mentioned it to them. Rather than being proud that a grandson of Jewish immigrants was running for president, Jewish leaders were appalled at Goldwater's strong conservatism, and perhaps afraid that his background could stir anti-Semitism; I've read that Goldwater received only 10% of the Jewish vote. Of course, the fact that he was nominally Christian didn't help, but Jews had previously embraced New York Mayor LaGuardia, who had an analogous background, so I'm guessing his reception had much more to do with his political views."

Indeed I do-and those who are race baiters love to think they are all of Bering Landbridger Mongol descent, too, because it makes them less of the white/caucasian race-but all the info that has come to light says it isn’t so-they were already mixed up for eons-even the native americans in the US are still howling about the burials found from 8000 + years that have proved to be mostly Caucasian-it took away their precious race card.

They are not now, and probably never were purely Mongoloid, at least not once they traveled south of the wilds of Canada. I read all the new studies on the migrations of people with great interest-one of my cousins is married to an archaelogist who is a paleo-indian expert.

After all, the original inhabitants of Spain came to the “civilized” world on a Roman road...

Re your post 102:

I don't dispute anything you are saying. I merely said that Halakahically Barry Goldwater was not Jewish. To be Jewish one must either be born to a Jewish mother (his mother was non-Jewish) or convert Halakhically to Judaism (he did not).

That's all Halakhah has to say about the matter.

If they start rejecting people labeled “Hispanic” because of their impure blood, they are shrinking their radical tribe and increasing those who will identify with the whitey tribe. We welcome everyone into the whitey tribe. :)

So Gov. Sarah Palin is Halakahically Jewish?

Re-elect the chief of the tribe and keep the government cash flowing. That’s the top priority for all racial activist groups. Beliefs can easily be changed, if necessary..

Of course they question his authenticity. One of his parents is a cracker/honkey/gringo. Therefore he is not a “real” Latino.

Dear Latino advocacy organization,
George Zimmerman is Latino.
The obama administration doesn’t like you either. You see my friend, you are almost white.

Now I see why I haven’t heard of any Hispanics/Latinos speaking up for Zimmerman. As far as they are concerned he’s nothing but a tainted, impure, half-breed.

Further proof that to the left, “race” is a political designation, not an ethnic one.

“If Barry can be black because one of his parents was black, then George Zimmerman can be Hispanic, if one of his parents is Hispanic.”

“Hispanic” comes the Spanish culture and not a shade of skin, whatever that “shade” is suppose to be.

Latins are those who are born in Latin America and who have Spanish as a common language. “Latins” come in all shades of skin color as do U.S. Americans.

So Gov. Sarah Palin is Halakahically Jewish?

I have no idea where all of these responses to my simple post are coming from.

The fact is that Barry Goldwater was not Halakhically Jewish. It has nothing to do with conservatism or liberalism or why American liberal Jews didn't like him.

I don't know where this business with Sarah Palin is coming from. Her mother certainly wasn't Jewish, and she has certainly never Halakhically converted.

What's the matter with everybody today?

Correction:

“Hispanic” comes the Spanish culture… = “Hispanic” comes FROM the Spanish culture…

Sorry, aruanan

Her mother certainly wasn't Jewish

Her mother was, although not observant, as well as both maternal grandparents.

The real problem is that they think Zimmerman is a Jew. La Raza hates Jews just like Jeremiah Wright hates Jews.

Apparently, the Net rumors about Palin’s Jewish roots are false.
