This controversy is all about uniting the President's African-American base. Period.

The most effective unifying element in all Mass movements is hatred, almost always toward a depersonalized "other." This administration is clearly worried about the morale of it's most core constituency.

Secondary to that purpose is inflaming, so-called, "White Guilt."

The rest of this story, the choosing of the narrative for the spotlight, out from among others, is manufactured public relations. The simple "are talking about" this because others are "talking about this," though following the trends, search terms, etc., demonstrate no true "buzz" out there above the noise level.

The entire story of generalized, spontaneous outrage is bogus.

I guess his base is less enthusiastic than they were in 2008. They didn’t “get paid” like they thought they would, and whitey STILL isn’t in chains picking cotton.

As far as “white guilt” goes, most who voted for him on this basis figured out they got RIPPED OFF. His election was supposed to absolve them of their guilt, and here he is, still rubbing their nose in it.

Without “white guilt”, 0bama isn’t president, and that’s a fact.

Yes, but manufactured outrage pays well.

"Oh, so you are merchants, after all."
