Thanks! That is just good commom sense! The benefits of Christianity far out weigh the negative!

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6)

FWIW, i am a born-again Christian and agree with your post.

while i may hope that my actions and words may lead someone to look into what it means to have Jesus as their savior, it is STILL not my business what people teach their children.

As far as your statement that my faith is nothing more than a silly superstition, why would i find that insulting? why would what YOU believe change how *I* feel about what *I* believe? I don't get why people get insulted about other stuff...maybe it's age. I think when I was a lot younger, everything insulted me!

Besides, maybe your comment was a subconcious way to challenge someone into showing you why/how their religion has changed their life. :)

in any case, i also agree with the Islam thought....atheists did not fly jumbo jets into skyscrapers.

You'll need more than a neurologist to fix what is wrong with you.

Stop trolling on a pro-God site and you won't get responses which offend your solipsistic sensibilities.

There are certain religions, such as branches of santeria and various African muti practices, that require human sacrifice.

But you are quite right these are the exception.

Personally, I do not believe Islam is necessarily and inherently dangerous to everybody else. Though it certainly leans in that direction.

Our Lord Jesus quoted Psalm 110:1: “The LORD said unto My LORD, Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” (Matthew 22:41-46)

“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through might be saved.”
(John 3:17)

Thank you for that thoughtful response. I would hope “others” learn that it takes all kinds to make the world go round.

Matthew Chapter 5
11 Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this is how they persecuted the prophets before you.

Luke Chapter 6
22 ‘Blessed are you when people hate you, drive you out, abuse you, denounce your name as criminal, on account of the Son of man.

23 Rejoice when that day comes and dance for joy, look!-your reward will be great in heaven. This was the way their ancestors treated the prophets.

But as far as I know maybe Jesus and Zeus’s.

Wife are an item in the great palace in the sky.

Just wondering: does your keyboard malfunction, or are you one of the few people who likes to proofread even less than I do?

‘Darken’ is a well-chosen verb and probably not coincidental.

Have you noticed...that atheism, which presumably throws the doors wide open to any number of theories about the universe, man’s existence, etc., has its own very narrow orthodoxy?

Mockery of God and Christians (and only vary rarely Jews and Muslims) is their first, er, means of convincing others. Darwin’s theories (and they are only theories) are NEVER questioned, despite their claims of scientifically-oriented intellectual superiority.

By now the pattern of attacks on society’s building blocks should be familiar to all regardless of the issue at hand. Individuals transform their dissatisfaction with themselves into a collective chip on the shoulder and blame others for their shortcomings. They find like-minded individuals and begin to form a group with self-appointed leaders whose credentials are nothing more than a loud voice and/or an obnoxious personality. They choose the target that is ‘causing’ their problem and attack. In order to portray themselves as second-class citizens they invent all manner of latter-day ‘rights’ that are being denied. The only way for these ‘rights’ to be exercised is to suppress the rights of others as well as the aforementioned attack on societal norms.

Last but not least, these so-called free thinkers will invariably turn to government coercion. In their minds, court decisions and arcane law equate to societal acceptance. Their victories are entirely Pyrrhic but they never tire of lighting the fires.

The question they never can or will answer: if they don’t care a jot about religion then why are they turning out in any number at all rather than living out their finite, scientific, Darwin-approved lives?

Atheists darken DC?

DC has already been darkened by the politicians there.

As an atheist. I can not understand others concern about religion and Christianity in general. A photo or wall hanging of the Ten commandments in a school or city hall does me no harm.

This is what is disturbing about the recent rally: The participants said they wanted politicians to be less swayed by religion. To be less swayed by one force indicates the automatic reversal, being swayed by that force's opposite. The dichotomy is set up by the atheists that the two forces are Religion and Reason. This is false. Persons who hold to religious values are not without reason, nor are their arguments (such as Intelligent Design), and persons who claim Science as their explanation of life, the universe, and everything have a religious faith that is in every way the equal of any world religion, as their theories of the origins of all things are not scientifically provable!

The disturbing implication the atheists are trying to put across is that those who hold to a faith in a creator (as did our founders) are acting outside the realm of reason and ought to be silenced.

Atheism is a religion, believing there isn’t a God, is every bit an act of faith, as is believing that there is a God.

Thanks for your kind words. You do see a difference (and it is profound) between Christianity and Islam.

Were I Muslim, I would be deeply offended that you reject Allah, perhaps to the point of wishing you dead.

I say what follows only with a humble heart, intending you no harm.

As a Christian, instead, I feel a sadness, almost a fear, for your soul. And, not knowing you, but loving you because you are a fellow person created in the image of God, I’ll pray that He’ll make Himself real in your life, that you’ll come to accept His salvation. It is a free gift, held out, not pushed.

Prayers Up.

Many militant religious groups came here because there was a different “state” religion in their home country. Then they often turned around and were just as narrow and punitive as what they ran away from. Our founders were wise enough to see that keeping religion out of the Constitution was needed to prevent fighting over it within the government. Someone I know wrote an argument at the age of 12 about why something in the Bible didn’t make sense. His father threatened him with a gun. That’ll convince you about the virtue of Christianity.

In Uganda, Christians are trying to make homosexuality punishable by death. They are also trying to subject family and friends who don’t report it to serious criminal penalties. So much for harmless religion.
