SAN FRANCISCO -- The suspect in last week's slayings of five people in San Francisco was ordered deported in 2006 after he served a prison term for robbery and assault, but because his native Vietnam would not issue travel documents for him, immigration officials had to let him go free, officials said Monday.

Binh Thai Luc, 35, of San Francisco was released under the terms of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that said undocumented immigrants must be released after six months if their country of origin won't take them back, according to officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Living in San Francisco is tantamount to nominating yourself for the Darwin Award.

Get the NO reply right away. Then you put him in Navy shipboard irons, from ship to ship, if necessary until getting 20 miles from the coastline nation of origin.

Then, give him a raft and a compass and point the direction he should start paddling. If he’s from a landlocked origin, the nearest coastline will do fine. Maybe the natives will make soup of him.

Why do these people become our responsibility?

This is just like that Chinese man who has been hospitalized for years in the NY hospital, costing taxpayers Lord knows how much money, simply because China refused to take him back.

If they don’t want their own people physically there, then they should agree to be billed for their upkeep or imprisonment.

Sending them back is no problem. If the country sends ships or planes here..we simply put them on those planes or ships and tell them to take them home. Otherwise..no more ships or planes visit US. But that would take someone to have some balls and actually look out for US interests. We have thousands here now who China and others won’t take back. We need a show down. BTW..that is what they do to us.

Ironically the people he killed would be Vietnamese or Viet-American ..... going by the nature of this crime.
Vietnam refused to take him back and we decided not to pressure Vietnam to take him even though Vietnam needs American trade

Was there any real reason that Vietnam would not recognize Luc as a citizen, beyond his misdeeds in the US.

If he had been born there as a Vietnamese person (no confusion about whether he might be American to them), I say he should have been repatriated via parachute drop.
