DO the math. 50 states in the union. 500,000 man Army. Thats average of10,000 troops per state. At any given time 1/3 are on duty, 1/3 are sleeping. 1/3 doing maintenance etc. 1/3 of 10,000 is 3,333 soldiers on duty to patrol an entire state. LOL. Let’s say each state has 50 counties. That is 66 guys, or an undersized infantry company i.e. 2 platoons, to patrol an entire county. The numbers are not there.
Yes and in addition to that some 14 states thankfully including GA have already passed legislation putting state guard/militia under the Gov to go agains’t the Feds if they declare martial law and try to take over. If CW2 breaks out its going to be the states vs the Feds not the civilians out in the streets. That is the way it needs to go down.
ok
How many to occupy afghanistan?
Oh really? To take on the entire San Francisco Bay Area of 12 million people, all I would need is about 50 guys with armored vehicles, automatic weapons, and properly set charges. Cut the power, blow the bridges, let panic clog the exit roads with traffic, and watch the people die of smallpox. If they try to leave on foot, they won't get far, they won't be able to organize, and they won't have supplies.
It's not that hard.
Now, if you want a real means of deterring tyranny, what it really takes is a hardened population prepared in advance to evacuate en masse and on foot if necessary, knowing where to go having the relationships set up in advance (as in with a known command structure), with supplies prepared and stored in secret out of town such that you could get there on foot if necessary.
That plan was written 3,500 years ago, but has been never understood, until now.
Roll those numbers into the mix, and even if 50% of the nation's law enforcement officers (which I think is an overly optimistic projection) refused to participate in a crackdown on the general populace, the numbers change susbtantially.
I understand your math and have preached it myself; howdever, they will use that strength to go after control points, such as rail lines, telecom, ports, etc. in an effort to starve the people of food, supplies, power, and transportation.
