Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson said Friday that he's grateful the rest of the country has sat up and taken notice of the tragic slaying of Trayvon Martin. But he can't help but wonder: Why has it taken so long for everyone else to recognize the chronic injustices that African Americans face?
"We're surprised that everyone else is surprised," Jackson told the Los Angeles Times. African Americans have tried for decades to get the rest of America to understand their plight, he said, particularly their beliefs that justice is still elusive in many parts of America, especially the Deep South.
Then along comes the Trayvon Martin case, and facts that are not in contention: Volunteer neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman pursued and then gunned down the unarmed 17-year-old last month, and never faced arrest because police said there was no evidence to contradict his claim that he fired in self-defense.
"I hope that this will be a transformative moment," Jackson said.
Jackson was speaking Friday morning from the Chicago offices of his Rainbow PUSH Coalition. He had just returned from duties in Belgium and Switzerland. He was in Geneva on Wednesday as part of a delegation of religious leaders trying to find a way to end the violence in Syria. Jackson was preparing to get back on a plane for a flight south so he can add his voice to the growing protests in and around Sanford, Fla., where Martin's shooting took place.
Jackson said the Martin case is getting plenty of media attention overseas, attention that is both embarrassing to white America and humiliating to black America.

FBI statistics confirm the simple fact that blacks who are 12% of the population comprise 30% of suspects charged under the hate crime law. On a per capita basis this one group has the highest participation in hate crimes.
I did 4 searches on this shooting/murder and found 1 mention at a site called stormfront, which looked very ugly, so I won’t post it here. No other mention, anywhere.

Disgusted that Hannity spent his whole radio show today and half of yesterdays show on this topic. It happened a month ago and the news whores are now just figuring out how to capitalize on this event. The latino vs. black argument doesn’t sell as well as white vs. black.

That part of your post is not correct. He was either visiting his Dad or his Dad's girlfriend's home. I'm not quite clear which it was.
But the point is, he was not trespassing.
I had to stop reading about that attack.......My blood was beginning to boil. My only hope is that these scumbags suffer a horrible death while in prison. And I don’t mean their lethal injections. Something 1000 times more horrific.
His name is giving the left cover for this media frenzy. George Zimmerman doesn't sound Latino enough. If this guy was called Pedro Garcia the press would have avoided this story like the plague.

This unfortunate shooting of a Black teen is being used as an attempt to gain the violence, race hatred, and class war that some in the Democratic party want to help Dear Leader be reelected.
NO! It was NOT a crime. Based on the evidence present and the law enforcement details, this was a case of self-defense. Zimmerman was bloody, wet, and his shirt was stained from the grass. There was some type of altercation.
I'm not defending him, but the MSM has regular people, FReepers, Conservatives believing that Zimmerman is guilty, and he's not been arrested nor is there any evidence for which to arrest him.
Go to Hell, Jackson, you race-baiting anal discharge! If blacks were truly under attack, the overwhelming majority of them would be jailed or detained at the point. You've had more freedom given to you than even the white man can expect, yet your own people are killing each other and dragging down the rest of us. Clean up your own damned community before you come preaching to ours!
If that is true whites are under attack 9 times as much as blacks are under attack. Most violent crime (fbi stats) - over 90% is black on white crime. Just under 10% is white on black.
