Will Roberts be final nail in Bush's coffin?

President Bush's list of domestic accomplishments is already pretty thin. No Child Left Behind is now universally despised among conservative activists. Medicare Part D epitomized Bush's big spending ways and arguably paved the way for Obamacare. And even Bush's tax cuts are looking to be pretty temporary in nature.
The one saving grace Bush still has on the domestic front is the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sam Alito have so far proved to be good reliable conservative votes. But all that may change after Obamacare hits the Supreme Court.
Almost everybody assumes that Justices Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, and Sam Alito will side with the National Federation of Independent Businesses and find Obamacare's individual mandate unconstitutional. Justice Anthony Kennedy is the consummate swing vote. But what about Roberts?

Ted Kennedy don't care, he's just hungry!
And his "legacy" will live on and on...
I wish I were a Kennedy or a Pelosi. Then everything I do would be taken seriously.

George W. Bush hovers just above Jimmy Carterwell, maybe above Bill Clintonas one of the worst Presidents in U.S. history. Nah, I'd say he's much better than that. But certainly, the only way I'd rate him as a good President would be by comparing him to the bad ones. Objectively, on his own, he was not a good President. Few of his accomplishments mean much.

How much are you willing to bet that NONE at SCOTUS are changing anything. Remember they had a secret meeting with the usurper on January 14, 2009 which caused that none of the nine blackest robed on the bench will touch the NBC which Thomas told us clearly and which Sheriff Arpaio is persuing!!!
WHY do you think they dare to touch the obamaScare. He scolded at a SOTUA with loud applause from the chamber, hello???

But that still makes him the 11th worst President in US history...
And I don't agree.
He was better than:
Clinton
Bush 41
Ford
Nixon
Johnson
Kennedy
Maybe Eisenhower
Truman
Franklin Roosevelt
Harding
Carter
(Not in that order)

"Few of his accomplishments mean much"...and some of them mean a great deal:
REFUSED to enforce the Mexican Border--in DEFIANCE of his oath to uphold US law!INCREASED illegal immigration!
INCREASED entitlements! ADDING to the financial burdon already staggering the American working man and woman!
INCREASED the size, scope, and appetite of the Frankenstein's Monster known as the Federal Government!
INTENTIONALLY ALIENATED his base support: hard working, law abiding American citizens!
SPENT more of the American Tax Payers' hard earned money than any President since Lyndon Johnson!
SET US UP for what we've got now!

Good grief. When you AGREE with libs on things like No Child Left Behind, or read my lips: "no new taxes", or lowering taxes on ALL people who actually PAY them, you get crucified.
By the liberals who proposed them in the first place.
I'm surprised any libs would be opposed to No Child Left Behind - generally they are in favor of anything that increases government control and/or oversight on what should be local or state matters.

Sen. Ted Kennedy was the architect behind No Child Left Behind, President Bush just signed it.
I used to believe like you did, but some FReepers corrected me.
Within a few days of Bush taking office, he sent the NCLB plan off to Congress. It had been a part of his campaign (based loosely on Texas from his time as Governor), and his people had it ready to send off to Congress in search of sponsors within just a few days of taking office.
They quickly found their sponsors - John Boehner, George Miller, Teddy Kennedy, and Judd Gregg.
Another instance where Teddy Kennedy claims credit for something that was basically handed to him, in this case by the Bush campaign.
And you may find this interesting - As of two months ago,
Bush is still defending it.

George W. Bush hovers just above Jimmy Carterwell, maybe above Bill Clintonas one of the worst Presidents in U.S. history.
Carter was pretty incompetent. Bush on the other hand, managed to expand the power, size, and cost of the federal government more than any other President.
At least until Obama came along and decided to break some of those records.
And lest we forget, many FReepers were publicly arguing against Bush's efforts to expand the power, size, and cost of the federal government. They rightfully argued that someday a liberal would be in the White House and would use and abuse that power and size, and even expand it. Nobody guessed that liberal would be somebody like Obama or that it would be the very next administration.

Someone once said: "Would you like it if a POTUS of the OTHER party had such power?"
I'm in favor of "tapping" phone calls from our enemies that are calling people in America. I'm NOT in favor of arresting citizens for no reason, though.
But the libs are apparently OK with that. If Bush were to do that, there'd be hell to pay.
And you'd never hear the end of that on the evening news. With Obama? Way beyond anything any evil republican ever did. MSM: Crickets.

Uh, maybe I should have been clearer. My meaning was that few of his accomplishments mean much in a positive way.
It is very sad (and very bad for the American people) that Bush squandered the opportunity to be an historic President.
When he was elected I prayed that he was a genuine conservative. He fell pretty short of that.He had the opportunity to push this country in a positive direction to a degree that may have rivaled Reagan. He pissed that away. And demonstrated an astounding lack of leadership for the right side of the political spectrum. The only time I recall he threw his weight round with the Republicans in congress was when he tried to ram through amnesty. Some things are deal breakers for me. That was one of them. Unforgivable.
