Current and former neighbors call George Zimmerman caring, passionate and polite, a regular guy they enjoyed being around...
"The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting, are false and extremely misleading," his father, a retired magistrate judge, wrote in a letter published in the Orlando Sentinel. "Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas."
"George is a Spanish-speaking minority with many black family members and friends," Robert Zimmerman wrote. "He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever."

I meant in terms of whether it was purely self defense. Yes it was to a degree self defense but in my opinion it does not rise to the level of a totally innocent person who takes action to keep themselves from being killed or harmed in an unprovoked attack.
So bottom line I agree with you. Zimmerman would not have had to defend himself if he had not confronted Martin.
I’m with you, he shouldn’t have tried to detain him.
From the 911 call, it sounded like Martin was running for it, and Zim didn’t want the “burglar” to get away to come back another time.
Faster police response time would have also been a preventative situation.
Are you aware that shortly after Mr. Zimmerman got out of his truck Trayvon ran off into the darkness?
how about the people who died because nobody listened to him?
(remember the networks paid money to jewel)
Assumes facts not in evidence.
Neighborhood Watch is supposed to... you know... keep an eye on suspicious folks casing your neighborhood.
You don't get to beat the hell out of someone just because they ask you why your are skulking around in the rain...
You haven’t read the police reports or listened to the 911 calls have you? Just answer the question.
Since when is asking someone a question “accosting”?
if someone has a hoodie on over their head, how do you know the skin color of the person?
are their special hoodie penetrating glasses?
also this is FL, just how cold was it to require a hoddie?
Then he must have been a criminal. He deserved to be shot.
Zimmerman made bad choices that resulted in someone's death.
You don't get to beat the hell out of someone just because they ask you why your are skulking around in the rain...
Here's that racism I was talking about. Assuming that a black person is "casing" and "skulking," based on what?
If Zimmerman decided to jump out of his car to "question" a blonde girl, would you defend that? Is blonde girl walking back from the store also "casing" and "skulking"?
Or does it depend on if she has a hooded sweatshirt on?
Base on what I read so far, the glaring problem Zimmerman faces is following Martin after the police operator told him not to and let the police do that when they arrive. Post 17 outlines witness seeing Martin on top of Zimmerman giving him a beating before Zimmerman while pinned to the ground was able to get his handgun out and shoot his beater. What happen between that time and the time Zimmerman shot Martin is going to determine his innocence or guilt?
They have faces and hands, do they not?
And I guess in your haste to criminalize outerwear you forgot that it was raining. Hoods and other headwear are useful to protect one's head in the rain.
In the initial police report, Zimmerman is listed as 5-9, Martin is listed as 6-0.
Better yet half Jewish.
Mr. Zimmerman did not go after him when Trayvon fled into the darkness. Mr. Zimmerman headed back to his truck but did not make it because Trayvon turned around and jumped him. Mr. Zimmerman was on his back with Trayvon on his chest beating in his face. Witnesses saw this happen and told that to police.
If you were ambushed in the dark and had some thug on top of you beating in your face what would you do? Start sing “Kum Bay Ya”?
So, you can’t tell me what is wrong with my facts? And you have to insult people?
That’s a strong argument.
Your “facts” are Leftist media based.
Just answer the question. Have you read the police reports or listened to the 911 calls? Why can’t you answer the question? Are you afraid to do so because it’ll prove just how much of a stooge you are for the lies the Leftist media propagates?
It is a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to my question. I’m starting to think you are a Leftist troll.
From the photos at least Zimmerman looks to outweigh Martin.
I have to wonder why would somebody follow a person after knowing the police were on the way and when they claimed the person was acting strange because they thought he was on drugs? Wouldn’t most people figure the reasonable thing to do was to let the cops handle this person? Wouldn’t most people if they thought a person under the influence of drugs might have a weapon figure the reasonable thing to do was to stay away from that person?
