This week, it's Springtime racing in Southern California and the Auto Club 400 and the Nationwide Royal Purple 300.

Grab a drink and a towel and let's hang with the movie stars and lay around by the pool.

Prayers for all our active duty and reserve troops, retirees and their families and this nation in these turbulent times.

I am not convinced the car broke and caused the problem.

Has anyone heard what broke?

The race was not in progress it was caution flag and the dryers were out to dry the rain off the track.

I believe he was going too fast for the caution and lost control.
I have never heard it published what broke. Looked for it on Google and it just says it broke.
A tie rod end or something in the steering could have broken , but the possibility is small of that, he said he ahd a vibration it is possible I suppose that the engne blew and spilled oil under the wheels. I just have not heard what broke if anything did.

Thanks. I thought it was a caution but wasn’t sure.

With the lengthy delay caused by the crash and fire, the
race didn’t end until 1:15 AM Eastern time.

While giving commentary at Bristol last weekend, Darrell Waltrip stated that both the remnants of Montoya’s car and the remains of the jet dryer should be in NASCAR’s museum.

I noticed those empty seats at Bristol, too.

Can’t imagine why.....the news media says the economy is booming, thanks to our beloved president (do I have to add the sarc tag?).

Ya see this one?

Dakar will start in Lima, Peru, in 2013
http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=ApFO0EL8qjPPLnqjHFXFW_Lov7YF?slug=ap-dakarrally-peru

Uhh , isn’t Dakar on the African continent? I think it’s why they called it the Dakar Rally.

Due to security threats and since 2009 , it no longer is run on the EUropean continent where it used to run between Paris and Dakar before they moved it to South America.

This one ends in Santiago Chile. They start at opposite ends and have started in Argentina before too..

My kid flies to Baja Saturday to ride a motorcycle from near the border to the tip. He is renting a bike from Malcom Smith motorsports for this ride.

Will you tell Glock that I bought another camera in my quest for the perfect one.

Illegal c-posts on the 48. The again, I suppose it could be considered a cumulative punishment. Although Knaus has been suspened and fined before.

In any case, I thought it was overkill...

While giving commentary at Bristol last weekend, Darrell Waltrip stated that both the remnants of Montoya’s car and the remains of the jet dryer should be in NASCAR’s museum.

Someone reported that Dale Jr now has Montoya's car setting in a field on his 200 acres near Mooresville, NC. According to the story someone on Montoya's team called Jr and ask if he wanted the car to add to his "collection" of about 30 cars that had interesting stories behind them.

In an interview Jr said all the cars had been given to him, he didn't buy them. When ask if Montoya's car had the best story behind it Jr said "well maybe not the best, but certainly it was in the top 3 or 4". When ask about also adding the jet dryer to his collection Jr said "well it is one of a kind, but I think I will stick to race cars".

Jr also has the big orange Union 76 ball that was at Talladaga for years. It is mounted on a pole on his land.

I think NASCAR.com, Jayski's or one of the once a week NASCAR threads here on FR had a link to some photos of Jr's home and land not too long ago (about a week or 2 ago?). In one of those photos it showed a couple of wreaked cars parked near each other in a field. I got the impression that the "collection" of 30 or so cars was scattered around and not parked side by side in one location.

Last summer you gave me some information about the difference in mpg using gasoline with 10% ethanol and 100% gasoline (no ethanol). As I recall you had made some long vacation trips that gave you a good comparison.

Last fall I made several trips back and forth to a deer camp. It is a 140 mile round trip on 4 lane with 60 & 65 mph speed limits.

In the past I got 18.5 mpg in my pickup using gasoline with 10% ethanol. Using gasoline that contained no ethanol I got 20.5 mpg. An increase of 11%

Again thank you for the information you shared with me last summer.
