Thanks. I thought it was a caution but wasn’t sure.
With the lengthy delay caused by the crash and fire, the
race didn’t end until 1:15 AM Eastern time.
While giving commentary at Bristol last weekend, Darrell Waltrip stated that both the remnants of Montoya’s car and the remains of the jet dryer should be in NASCAR’s museum.
Someone reported that Dale Jr now has Montoya's car setting in a field on his 200 acres near Mooresville, NC. According to the story someone on Montoya's team called Jr and ask if he wanted the car to add to his "collection" of about 30 cars that had interesting stories behind them.
In an interview Jr said all the cars had been given to him, he didn't buy them. When ask if Montoya's car had the best story behind it Jr said "well maybe not the best, but certainly it was in the top 3 or 4". When ask about also adding the jet dryer to his collection Jr said "well it is one of a kind, but I think I will stick to race cars".
Jr also has the big orange Union 76 ball that was at Talladaga for years. It is mounted on a pole on his land.
I think NASCAR.com, Jayski's or one of the once a week NASCAR threads here on FR had a link to some photos of Jr's home and land not too long ago (about a week or 2 ago?). In one of those photos it showed a couple of wreaked cars parked near each other in a field. I got the impression that the "collection" of 30 or so cars was scattered around and not parked side by side in one location.
