As gasoline prices continue to rise, President Obama on Thursday pushed back on attacks from Republicans that he is blocking the Keystone XL oil pipeline and is against drilling, arguing his administration has added enough new oil-and-gas pipelines to "encircle the Earth and then some."
Obama highlighted his support for the southern leg of the controversial Keystone pipeline, which would carry oil from Cushing, Okla., to refineries on the Gulf Coast.
Appearing before a backdrop of oil pipelines in Cushing, Obama said he was making construction a priority through an executive order issued Thursday that instructs federal agencies to expedite their review of the southern portion of the pipeline.
Today, Im directing my administration to cut through the red tape, break through the bureaucratic hurdles and make the project a priority, said Obama, who earlier this year rejected a GOP bid to force construction on the full pipeline, which would stretch from Alberta to the Gulf Coast.
Republicans quickly dismissed the speech and the executive order as a public relations stunt.

Dictator Baby-Doc Barack is proving himself to be a blithering idiot.
Obama says what he thinks his audience wants to be true, and then expects us to believe his lie.
I am so sick of this lying SOS.
It’s 50 feet. So he’s more than blowing this all out of perportion.
“Oil pipelines are built all over the nation every day without his approval,... dont need his approval,.. dont require his approval,... and that he doesnt even have jurisdiction over whether they are built, or not? ..Nope, they dont, do they?
The two key words are support and approval, and Enemy of Oil #1 and the mainstream media have cleverly substituted the word approval for the word support.
He is traveling to Cushing, Oklahoma to give his so called support, but with the mainstream medias help, he is giving the impression that he is giving the Southern portion of the pipeline his approval, when he has no authority over it whatsoever.
The only approval he has the authority to give is the approval he refuses to give, and that is for the 50 feet that extends to the Canadian border.....(which he has now given...50 feet!)
So when you hear stories about his approving some portion or another of the pipeline, it is nothing more than a publicity stunt to fool people into thinking he is approving the pipeline, bit by bit.
When one possesses no moral compass, like Obama, then anything they say is not a lie, by their line of reasoning as evidenced by Obama saying this, just like Gore said about inventing the internet, just like Piglosi who said that more unemployment funding was needed in order to create more jobs, and just like Slick Willie himself, who said he did not have sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky.
What I said was a joke: That Obama has "laid more pipe" than Clinton, but that in hOmObama's case...
it's dirty-plumbing pipes...
which in plumber's terms means the pooh pooh pipes. The dirty water pipes--the outflow toilet pipes.
hOmObama lays pooh pipes. Fudge packer? Butt pirate? Poop Chute Loot? Shall I stop? ;-)
The Lyin’ King....
It should be easy to prove or disprove these claims, one would think.
Obama denies any blame for the SOLYNDRA debacle which used government funds but takes credit for laying pipelines for which used no tax dollars....
And the obedient lapdog media remains silent.....
In the interest of fairness, I feel compelled to point out that Gore did not claim to have “invented” the internet per se. He took credit for pushing legislation through that enabled the internet to be developed.....or something like that.
Will all 58 states benefit?
You hit the nail on the head.

Sorry. I couldn’t resist.
To fill in the gaps, the northern leg of the Keystone pipeline would run from Alberta, across Eastern Montana and Western Nebraska -- where it would pass thru the Sandhills to join an existing leg in Eastern Nebraska.
The Nebraska Sandhills are the primary water source for the Ogallala Aquifer -- which flows under Western Kansas, Western Oklahoma and irrigates crops in West Texas.
The enviros claim that a pipeline rupture in the Sandhills would pollute the aquifer. Two problems with that:
a. Oil floats on water -- any rupture would stay on the surface and not enter the aquifer.
b. There are already five or six other pipelines that cross the Nebraska sandhills. To my knowledge, no ruptures (or pollution of any sort) have occurred.
It's all environmental BS. And Obama doesn't want to go against his wacko base.
We won't be getting 700,000 bpd of Canadian and Bakken oil (boosting our supply by fully 8%) because the President is playing politics with what is clearly a hugely beneficial economic opportunity.
That aquifer ALREADY has 83 pipelines running across it. Some of those have been in the ground since 1932.
Just another manufactured “Crisis” issue that is back-firing in the Messiah’s face.
And watching his followers just swallow down the new CURRENT TRUTH, without even questioning it, is just shocking.
I stand corrected......
Thanks for the info. I live in the deep south and know little about all the production up there. We sure are pumping it out of the ground fast down here though.
See, I am sure that many liberals do not know that here in the south. Many of them who I talk to on the subject think it is going to flood the earth with oil and everyone will die. I know that much of what comes out of Obama’s mouth is a lie. His Chicago style politics are corrupting the country but his smooth talking is covering up for it unfortunately.
