Any Republican governor of a blue state who manages to balance the budget without raising taxes should be a nominee for Mount Rushmore, to say nothing of president.
Mitt Romney was governor of a state so blue, it's North Korea with more Irish people, and he balanced the budget without raising taxes.
Even Ronald Reagan raised taxes as governor of California, imposing a $1 billion tax increase his first year in office. It was the largest tax hike by a governor in the nation's history, raising income, corporate, sales and inheritance taxes. Five years later, Reagan raised taxes again by another $1.5 billion.
To be fair, unlike liberals, he also provided tax rebates that, over his tenure in office, totaled $5.7 billion, including $4 billion in property tax rebates.
But even Reagan didn't stop the growth of state government: While he was governor of California, the budget increased from $4.6 billion to $10.2 billion.
Republicans are able to contextualize Reagan's record - it was California! -- but seem unable to contextualize Mitt Romney's record, even though he had to govern a state far more liberal than California was half a century ago.

did romney borrow money to balance the book, because borrowing money is worst than raising taxes
Mark Levin still likes her and hopes when all this is over she will reclaim her sanity and we can all be friends again.
RomneyCare is a failure in MA. It has not fixed health care. How does Ann justify why Romneys hacks worked on SoetoroCare and used RomneyCare as a blueprint. Meet the new RINO, same as the old RINO.
And by signing RomneyCare he guaranteed future state budgets that would far outstrip his states ability to finance them. Not exactly Reaganesque.
A Republican governor that institutes a vast new social welfare program that is guaranteed to bankrupt his state is not what I would consider Presidential material.
Maybe Mitt did not raise taxes, but he did raise FEES
IIRC, he raised the fees (like licensing, registration, etc.) instead.
If he had borrowed, by definition the budget would not have been balanced..
I don’t recall him significantly raising any existing fees, he did initiate fees are what had previously been “free” services, e.g., parking lots a Walden Pond.
Massachusetts cannot constituitionally borrow money, and no debt or bond issued that has the full faith and credit of the Commonwealth. The Big Dig is funded by a state moral obligation agency, the Mass Turnpike Authority. The bond holders can repossess the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Jumped the shark, eh Ann??? How's that workin' out for ya.
Skeletor for Romney....The rest of us aren’t.
Coultergeist and Smudge have jumped the shark and mean nothing to me.
That is never going to happen with the base. She is persona non grata.
LLS
She’s Mitt’s “Meghan McCain”.
This woman is incredibly ignorant or she is being purposely misleading to try to get a liberal elected as the GOP nominee.
As with many states, by constitution the MA budget must be balanced each year. There is no accomplishment or feat to it and the power of the opposition party is not a factor.
Mitt is not a Conservative, he is a RINO at best. He does not take responsibility for his actions as Gov. of MA, claiming he had to deal with a Democrats, well his one.
I could really care less about anything this cocktail sipping, backstabbing, elitist fraud has to say.
