You must have some information the rest of the public doesn't. Zimmerman was part of a neighborhood watch group. He reported the suspicious person to the police who told him not to confront the suspect. He wasn't supposed to "run down a black kid he deems suspicious."
There was no weapon on his person according to all accounts,
How was Zimmerman supposed to divine that? He reported to the police that the suspect had his hands in his waistband and appeared to be hiding something. We don't know what prompted the altercation that resulted in both men wrestling on the ground.
Zimmerman used racial epithets to describe the kid/situation on the phone with the police, regardless of whether or not he wanted those epithets to be recorded.
That is not a crime. And the police asked Zimmerman to describe the suspect and if was black or not, which Zimmerman confirmed. I have no idea as to what crimes were committed in the neighborhood that caused the formation of the watch group or who were the people that committed those crimes. If, in fact, the suspects who had committed crimes previously in the neighborhood were black, then Zimmerman may have been guilty of racial profiling.
This is a tragic incident, but I have seen nothing except the race baiting rhetoric of Al Sharpton to conclude that the killing was racially motivated or premeditated. Even Martin's family has cautioned that the police should be allowed to investigate the matter fully and no vigilante action should be taken in retribution.
Hey - your level-headed thinking and logic are starting to get in the way of a darn tootin’ good lynch mob we got brewin’ here. Stop it.
Take a deep breath, Kabar. I’m not choosing sides here.
First, a mall ninja is someone who goes around the public thinking they’re Superman because they have a gun. I’m not saying this guy is one, but his behavior (chasing down someone AFTER being told not to) is similar to someone who might be.
Second, Zimmerman wasn’t supposed to divine that the kid had no weapon, but he was told by the police to stand down. Instead, he followed this kid and shot him. Those are the facts. Had he followed the orders of the police, none of this would’ve happened.
Finally, I don’t think there’s anyone who would argue that the racial epithets aren’t damning, but yes, you are correct, they’re not illegal. They do, however, go to Zimmerman’s state of mind and will likely be used in court to smear him as a racist and/or bring about even bigger charges of hate crime.
It was a tragic accident, yes. However, if Zimmerman had followed the orders of the police and stood down, Trayvon would be playing football and hanging out with his friends today. There are a lot of facts that we just don’t know yet.
And I don’t have information the public doesn’t, I live in Florida and have to hear about this crap every day. You’re hearing it from the national media. Check out the Tampa Bay Times, The Tampa Tribune, BayNews9, and Fox 13 (myfoxtampabay.com) for some more in depth information. The national media is glomming on to it for the race baiting aspect.
