Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Tuesday that Rick Santorum "probably didn't mean to" say that he doesn't care about the unemployment rate but that it still illustrates a broader problem with the former Pennsylvania senator.
"I know that Santorum probably didn't mean to say it, but it's what he said," Gingrich said. "And, you know, when you're going to take on an incumbent President of the United States you better know what you believe. You better be able to say it very vividly. Can you imagine a Barack Obama dealing with somebody who says he doesn't care about the unemployment rate?"

I'm in, til Newt's out.
Now it’s a pissin contest.
We’re screwed.
I wish things were different and Newt was beating Santorum.
As of tonight your candidate cannot be placed in nomination in Tampa per RNC rules. Rule 40. Mine can. What is your rationale for continuing?
I’m sorry but that was uncalled for.
Newt has more than enough of his own problems, and if he were the main anti-Romney the MSM would distorting everything Newt says. I’ll support anybody but Romney, but I wish Newt and Santorum could find a way not to throw elbows in the other’s direction.
Overall, I think we as a whole now lack the character to be self-governing. No matter what happens in the election we are going to see an economic meltdown. If Obamalini is in power it will likely lead to an accelerated move toward fascism by the left. If Mittens is in power, the welfare poles in the cities will riot, with an assist from the unions and the hard left.
Secession - a divorce - may well be the eventual outcome of all of it.
“Santorum has since clarified his comments, saying the point he was trying to make was that his candidacy “doesn’t hinge on whether the unemployment rate goes up or down.”’
Of course. Rick knows that while employment is important, which is why he’s working on getting more manufacturing, etc. in the U.S., the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IS FREEDOM!
Can you elaborate?
What he refers to is rule 40 (b):
Each candidate for nomination for
President of the United States and Vice President of the
United States shall demonstrate the support of a
plurality of the delegates from each of five (5) or more
states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of
that candidate for nomination.
This pretty well hoses a dark horse late entrant at the convention as well, I believe.
Im sorry but that was uncalled for.

Uh-huh. And how but this one:
I didnt sit on the couch with anybody, Santorum said. I would only sit on the couch with my wife. Period. No other women particularly not Nancy Pelosi.
I don’t see how the clarification helps. So he doesn’t care about unemployment because it doesn’t affect his campaign? If I were on the unemployment line the last thing *I* would care about is Rick Santorum’s campaign.
He might instead have referred to what the Administration is claiming to be the unemployment rate vs the real unemployment rate, and gone down that road. Saying he doesn’t care about the unemployment rate but that he does care about his own campaign (which is how it will be read) is just idiotic.

I’m not running, so I have no rationale as to the issue.
If you’re asking me what Newt’s rationale might be, I suspect he intends to be President.
Why only a 0% corporate tax rate on manufacturing activity? Doesn’t everyone deserve to be free?

Whata dork! This is Saint Rick at his usual best.
How is he intending to accomplish that? Run as a third-party candidate?
He just finished below Ron Paul.
Rick always struck me as petulant and sanctimonious, then there the right to work /union BS.
Sorry... no sale Rick
Rick Santorum can’t win the nomination outright either. What’s his rationale?
Was that called a”Gingrich?”
