It really, really sucks. It hurts and it's bewildering. But I have to disagree, most are not poor losers. Most Freepers are genuine winners... Santorum supporters: You have my condolences. I'll be back tomorrow to fight. Tonight you'll get my respect and comfort. For, I can remember falling to the floor in 1976, weeping.”

Thank you, Mariner. Much appreciated, and you have my forgiveness as requested.

Gingrich is not my enemy and Gingrich supporters should not be my enemy, either.

Tonight's loss in Illinois was not a surprise to me; a win would have been a surprise. I was prepared for this, though as the turnout numbers came in, I was greatly annoyed to realize that in a low-turnout election, more aggressive campaigning by Christian conservatives in the Wheaton area and southern Illinois could have won for Santorum. That's especially true because it looks like Gingrich more or less cleared out of the state to give Santorum an opportunity. I wish things had gone differently, but that's the way things worked out.

Let's move on and try to turn this thing around before Romney does become unstoppable. On that point, those who truly are Gingrich supporters here can agree with those who support Santorum.

Romney simply must be stopped or we risk either 1) a major split in the Republican Party or 2) a veering to the left of the Republican Party as it becomes obvious that conservatives will support Republicans no matter who gets nominated. In either scenario, Obama will win the 2012 election or Romney will win by a narrow margin without adequate congressional support. Either way, it's a recipe for disaster.

Santorum did not qualify for the ballot in Wheaton and in some areas of Southern IL.
