When the CDC says abortion ratio, they mean the number of abortions per 1,000 live births. In 2009 NYC had a CDC abortion ratio of 688. The US had a CDC abortion ratio of 292 in 2005.

The scariest thing of all is that 2000-09 includes some of the Giuliani years. Rudy was pro-abort, but the one thing he constantly hammered when he was trying to get the Republican Presidential nomination was that abortions went way down and adoptions went way up when he was Mayor of NYC. That was his whole justification why pro-lifers should entertain supporting him (obviously, this BS tactic didn’t fly). It looks like whatever good came during Rudy’s run, has been undone - and then some - under Bloomberg.
