Syria training Hezbollah to use antiaircraft guns
Haaretz ^ | 3/20/2012 | Gili Cohen

Syria has been arming and training Hezbollah fighters in the use of advanced antiaircraft weapons in recent months, Israel Defense Forces sources have told Haaretz. A senior officer in the Northern Command says hundreds of fighters were taught to use surface-to-air missiles in Syria and Iran.

IDF officers are worried by two developments involving Syria and Hezbollah that could change the balance of power in the region. The first is the transfer of huge quantities of surface-to-air missiles; the second, the transfer of chemical and biological weapons.

IDF officers believe that Hezbollah use of advanced antiaircraft missiles could jeopardize Israeli aerial supremacy. "The potential of escalation in Lebanon is huge, and Hezbollah continues to strengthen with regard to long-range weaponry and potential 'surprises' on the battlefield," the senior officer said. "We will have to find answers to the transfer of antiaircraft weaponry, and chemical and biological weapons. It could be a cause to change Israel's retaliation policy," he added.

According to past, unverified, reports, Israel has considered on several occasions attacking convoys of weaponry from Syria to Lebanon. The senior officer says the Iranian involvement in Lebanon has transformed from a "fingerprint" to "a huge handprint."

Where did all the weapons from Libya go? Especially the shoulder-mounted stuff.

Some freepers support Assad as if Hezbollah are the good guys. It’s pretty sick.

I think some freepers support Assad because he protects the Christians who make 10 percent of the Syrian population. They see the persecution and murder of Christians in Egypt in the hands of the Egyptian Islamists.

SA-24’s, thanks. So, the old U.S. would hurry into Libya to intercept these weapons and the new U.S. would hurry into Libya to ensure the bad guys get them?

The State Department says that the chemical and nuclear weapons are secure from the Libyan arsenal.

You mean those Tariq Aziz type "Christians" who support the genocidal Baath socialist tyranny?

Christians should always remember that they are representatives of our Lord Jesus Christ and they should not do things which blacken the name of Christendom.

Pro-Assad Rally Shows Syrian Government Can Still Command Support - October 19, 2011 - Large crowds of Syrians rallied in the northern city of Aleppo on Wednesday in support of the government of President Bashar al-Assad, while Syrian troops kept up an offensive in central Syria and battled army defectors in the east.

The government-organized rally in Aleppo, with turnout estimated in the tens of thousands, was similar to one held a week earlier in Damascus, the capital. The two rallies showed that Mr. Assad and his government still command support from a substantial part of the population seven months after the uprising started.

Syrian state television claimed that the turnout at the Aleppo rally was much greater — more than a million Syrians participated, it said — and people were shown singing, “We love you” and holding pictures of Mr. Assad. Others were shown waving Syrian, Chinese and Russian flags; Russia and China each vetoed a proposed United Nations Security Council resolution this month to take measures against Syria because of its crackdown on dissidents.

I have always felt that Israel's war planning is somewhat like our war in Vietnam. Israel has let the enemy set the rules of the war and only reacts to their antagonists as opposed to the concept of eliminating their their antagonists. When you play the role of the protagonist you can only lose once as after one loss you are dead.

Oddly enough I would advocate Israel use their limited defense dollars for enhancing and refining their nuclear arsenal. They should let it be known that they will not maintain conventional forces that are capable of repelling an all out conventional attack on Israel from several nations i.e. Syria, Egypt, and the portions of Lebanon that are under control of Hezbollah and Iran as it is the primary controller and funder of Hezbollah.

It should also be known that their new strategy is to use tactical nukes, against opposing invading forces on their borders. Let is also be known that they will nuke the industrial centers with 250 Kiloton weapons and populations centers of nations that are supporting an invasion of Israel. Israel should let all civilians in the enemy camp know what will happen in case of war and plead with them to flee those areas, least they be dead.

In the case of the current daily barrage of missiles that are launched against Israel, let it be known that the site of launch will be hit with laser guided 500 lb conventional bombs. The bad guys will be gone but since most are launched from civilian population centers many will die.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki worked. At that point in the war they were not important as strategic centers. The bombs were instruments of terror and it worked. If we had not used nukes on Japan it was estimated that we would have had a million casualties and of these 150 thousand or more deaths. Terror works.

War is ugly business. If you can, "CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR, and your enemy knows this, you will not have to go to war unless the enemy is totally deficient of reason and thus fanatical. If he is fanatical and without reason you must kill him at some time in the future or he will kill you.

If you are not prepared to kill your enemy and all that stand with him, surrender for he has already defeated you.

I prefer the General Sherman's quote "War Is Hell".

That’s right. It’s a damned if you do and a damned if you don’t. We really need to take Iran out of the equation before Syria. Taking Iran out lessens the pressure on Iraq and cuts the source for arms and funding to several terrorist organizations.

Assad is a muslim terrorist slaughtering innocent women and children. Anyone who supports the genocidal monster Assad should hang their heads in shame and beg God for forgiveness.
