Mount Sinai Hospital in New York ordered Cathy DeCarlo to assist in an abortion for a patient 22 weeks into her pregnancy. A pro-life nurse, DeCarlo had informed the hospital in 2004 that she was unwilling to assist in abortions. And both federal and state law allows health care providers, including nurses, to refuse to assist in abortions.
DeCarlo pleaded with the hospital, which still had six hours to find a replacement nurse. Instead, DeCarlo says the hospital forbade her from seeking a replacement and falsely claimed that the mother could die if DeCarlo failed to follow orders.
Following the incident, the New York Post wrote:
Her [DeCarlos] pleas were rejected, and instead she was threatened with career-ending charges of insubordination and patient abandonment, according to the lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court.
Feeling threatened, [DeCarlo] assisted in the procedure.
She said she later learned that the hospitals own records deemed the procedure Category II, which is not considered immediately life threatening.
That was back in 2009. Now, the Deseret News reports:
The incident at Mt. Sinai violated hospital policy, state law and federal law, yet nearly three years later, DeCarlo remains without a remedy. The hospital shrugged her off. Her case in state courts is still pending. Federal courts held that she lacked a private right of action and must rely on HHS [the Department of Health and Human Services]. Two years after acknowledging her complaint, the Office of Civil Rights at HHS has still not responded.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
The murdering scum abortionists are deeply entrenched and beating them is almost impossible.
Our Government is almost as bad as the Chinese one baby system, Before long we will catch up to them.
There are a shortage of nurses across the US. The nurse in this story is in position to give a two word response, wihtout worry.
I was offered a head nurse position (OR) in a prominent NYC hospital, but when I realized I would have to participate in abortions without an opt-out clause due to being in charge (someone would have to go in if another nurse declined) I turned them down. Tough decision at that time (1972) because it was an honor to be chosen out of so many qualified nurses, but not a hard decision in regards to being pro-life. It was hard to leave the OR, but I did. I loved OR.
All casualties enroute to perfected man are acceptable.
Why would the government bother to respond to a commoner? The commoners' only purpose is to send tax dollars to the government as demanded and vote for Republicrats or Democans.
We wring our hands and wonder how we will maintain the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security as the baby boomers continue to reach retirement age. Yet since Roe vs Wade there have been 55 million abortions performed. How insane can we be.
Everyone that I know that is for abortion has already been born.
This is a ‘baby step’ (so to speak) to eugenics. At some point people are going to have to start making a choice between their jobs or their country.
GOD LOVES YOU FOR TAKING THAT STAND!!!
First of all, welcome BACK to FR!
Second, where the heck have you BEEN for eight years?!?
Third? It’s good to see you. There have been a lot of posts made (some of them mine) with the words “Nuke the terrorist savages, in honor of Standing Wolf”.
Shoot. This is one nurse that would have told them where to shove it.
NO nurse worth their salt has to stay and take that. There are many jobs elsewhere.
She made a choice. She must have put SOMETHING over conscience ...better salary, prestige, whatever.

Are we almost at the end of the "awkward stage" yet?
Once abortions are permitted they become obligatory.
