Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorums campaign is taking aim at rival Mitt Romneys tenure at the helm of Bain Capital.....
[SNIP]
Back in January, when Perry and Gingrich were hitting the former Massachusetts governor hard on his Bain tenure, Santorum had told CNNs Wolf Blitzer, I hate to sit here and be a defender of Mitt Romney, but to me this is federal capitalism, and I have to say that this is an attack probably not warranted.
Bain Capital, at least from the record I looked at, had a lot of success, Santorum said at the time. I mean they werent a company that has a long track of record basically destroying the companies and selling off the pieces. They had some situations where they had failures but every company does.

OOps.
Soon you won’t have anyone to blame and Rick enters the history books as but one more “Also ran...”.
I am not laughing with you, I am crying. There is none so blind as those who can not see. Every day the opposition bleathes a breath of relieve that it appears they will not have to face Newt. Rick will not be Mitt, much less Obama. I keep saying I will vote for Rick if I have to. That is unless something more important comes up, like a fishing trip, or a visit to see the grandkids. Or if someone invites me to play golf. If I am not too busy in November I might stand in line. Sorry guys that is how many many will feel if Rick S. is the nominee. On top of that he will find a way to motivate everyone on the other side to stand in the rain or cold just to keep him out. Yeah, Rick Santorum, our savior. NOT.
Where are all the “Newt is attacking capitalism” people. It seems Santorum is doing the same thing, but nobody is saying anything.
Romney can defeat Obama only if the gas prices would remain high by elections day but anyone would be able to defeat Obama in this case. Other than that Obama is going to utterly destroy Romney with Bain Capital, it is going to very ugly for Romney if he is the nominee, it is going to be Bain Capital 24/7
. I am shocked how the so called establishment Republicans and many on our side cannot see this very obvious fact
Newt did enough damage by depriving Santorum of a win in the key state of MI where Romney won by 3% over Santorum and Gingrich siphoned off 7% of the vote. And we know from exit polling data by PPP (the poll you guys like to cite, like the one that appeared several times which showed Newt leading the pack in AL and MS) showed that 57% of Gingrich votes would go to Santorum if he withdrew. And then of course don’t forget the crucial battleground state of OH where despite a thunderstorm of negative ads by Romney and being outspent by over 6 to 1. Romney squeaked by less than 1% over Santorum with Gingrich pulling in 13% of the vote. Now you folks would like to sit back and relish the notion of a Santorum defeat in IL and use negative WaPO article to hammer Santorum. Sure, Santorum doesn’t want the type of Goldman Sachs financiers to run the nation. Look what they have already done.
” ...he will find a way to motivate everyone on the other side to stand in the rain or cold just to keep him out.”
Isn’t that the truth, but then again that is probably true for every Republican nominee. That said, however, Newt as the nominee would let cats out of bags and expose the Left like no other candidate is capable of doing.
Rick nor Romney have no intention of exposing anything. They intend as president to lobby for business as usual, managing the collapse of America ensconced in a safe and cushioned perch at state dinners, issuing soundbites to the masses fraught through and through with blandness.
Im not hearing Santorum promise to create a whole new Federal environmental agency like Newt.
Rick’s committed to keeping the old ones.
Yeah, Romney and company walking off with buckets full of cash while they sent thousands of people to the unemployment lines doesn’t make for good political optics. Especially when you find out Bain borrowed money on those companies, drove them into debt and transferred it to themselves before they went bankrupt. They created the Obama crony capitalist stimulus model even before Obama did. Romney and Bain kicked the American workers and entrepreneurs out of the airplane to reduce the “dead weight,” even while they kept the golden parachutes neatly packed in the storage compartment all for themselves.
Whether or not Republican voters agree with the message of the attacks or not, they clearly worked as showing Mitt’s baggage, and how he would be impacted negatively in the general election campaign. The exit polls in South Carolina showed that people thought Newt was more electable than Romney.
Now, about your running out of material....
Hammering Newt is just no longer cover for your candidate’s self-implosion.
I see you are down to now whining about the past already, having to accuse Newt of siphoning off MI.
Trust me, it’s going to get worse for ya’.
Got Newt now?
Why is it that whenever you mention Michigan or Ohio you fail to mention that Rick had big leads in both and collapsed?
Tell me, do you think Sarah Palin should be held accountable for what McCain has done in the past or for what mcCain has done since just because she supported him?
Would you have posted her picture with words she said on the campaign trail in 2010 about McCain?
Probably not.
It really is the same thing you know. McCain sucked before she ever became a VP candidate.
Many people supported Romney in 2008 because the choices were pretty bad. McCain had the charisma and demeanor of a rotten potato and the other choice was Huck who was doing some silly stuff. Is Jim DeMint bad because he supported Romney in 2008?
Times change for many reasons. I have promised today I would start backing off flaming Newt.
Don’t tempt me.
So just what do you think would have happened if Rick would have left the race back when he ‘should have’, after South Carolina. What would be the state of the race today. I know, you don’t know and I don’t either. And you sure don’t know what would have happened in those states either. This is silly. Newt leaves, and Mitt wins. Of course it is my opinion.
Theres a BIG difference between a simple endorsement and the LilRicky Mitt endorsement equivalent of a political “Lewinsky”.
Santorum did not attack capitalism.
He attacked those who participated in and agreed to the Wall Street bailout. He went after those who ran businesses by those practices and principles that caused them not to blink about asking for a government bailout.
Santorum is right in this. He should be rejecting crony corporatism.
Rita I think I am in love, but it looks like you are in Oklahoma and I am in Texas. I know it won’t work, but I can dream. LOL. You are one smart lady. Don’t pay attention to this Saint Rick fans. If they were honest most would admit that up to a couple of months ago, he was just another name to them. Now he is all that, just because they have no where else to turn. They build him up, because they want him to be special. He is a good man, I am sure. But the truth is he is a second tier type candidate in most any year except this one. It is sad.
You are a great advocate for Senator Santorum. I have often seen your posts stating that if Newt had just told his voters to support Santorum in (fill-in-the-blank) state, Santorum would have won.
May I offer you a different opinion? This is the PRIMARY. I’ll bet a lot of primary voters have their favorites. Once that favorite drops out, many voters will say, “Oh, what the heck” and not bother voting IN THE PRIMARY. This does not mean they will sit at home in November. I am a big Newt supporter. When my state primary comes around, if Newt isn’t in it, I’m not sure what I’ll do. And I’ll bet you anything there’s lots of Perry, Cain and Bachmann supporters that didn’t bother voting in Michigan or Ohio. Why aren’t you scolding them?
some support Rick because the choices are pretty bad too. He is one of them. I am not flaming because I care about the what happens, that is all. I really don’t think he can win in November. I like to gamble, and I would be all in on that bet, along with almost everyone who places bets on Intrade.
Of course not, Rick is a pure as the driven snow. He would never ever do that. I happen to agree with him on this, and I also agreed with Newt when he did it. Same thing, period.
Actively campaigning for him and doing robo calls is not a simple endorsement and you know it.
So cut it out. Many have made bad endorsements *ahem*, that they know were a mistake now. *ahem* There was bad endorsement up in NY in 2010. It happens.
This is one of the many reasons people shy away from formal endorsements anymore.
