MIAMI, FLORIDA, March 16, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) Soon, a childs online exposure to homosexual romance will not just exist in a galaxy far, far away.
BioWare, the company that created the online video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, has relented after two years of lobbying and announced it will create an upgrade that allows players to have same-sex relationships as part of the gaming experience.
Same gender romances with companion characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature, BioWare declared in an online statement. The new functions will be developed as the company releases content and features that could not be included at launch, including the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options.
Following the bulletin PC Magazine reported, The ability to have a same-sex relationship within the Old Republic is on the horizon.
When LGBT activists began pressuring BioWare, which is a daughter company of Electronic Arts, to let players simulate homosexual scenarios, the company declined. During an internet discussion in April 2009, a BioWare monitor wrote terms like gay or lesbian do not exist in Star Wars and closed the thread.
But homosexual and transgender activists kept up the pressure through the games bulletin board. An online poll used to express support for inclusion of LGBT characters in the game consisted of just 35 people. The Florida Family Association estimates 1.7 million copies of the game have been sold, the vast majority to young children.
The worst part about this is we have children who are 9, 10, 11, 12 years old children playing these games, David Caton, president of the Florida Family Association told LifeSiteNews.com.
Our main concern is the social engineering element, he said, concerned someones young child will see this cool looking character who is a transgender male-to-female, and says, Hey, thats what I want to be. Its something he would never think about apart from that game.
The game is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, in which players from around the world play online. That raises the possibility a young child will be confronted with homosexual or homoerotic scenes unwittingly as part of simple game play. Another player could choose to be a transgender and then thrust himself into the mix with other children who dont want to see trangenders, Caton said.
If BioWare goes so far as to allow, characters to role play homosexual fantasies, Caton said, I dont think they are going to allow players to discriminate against LGBT players or characters.
BioWare has incorporated homosexual relationships into the video games Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, noted in his Washington Watch Daily Commentary, On the games website, there are more than 300 pages of comments a lot of them expressing anger that their kids will be exposed to this Star Warped way of thinking.
However, BioWare subsequently deleted many of those comments, according to the Florida Family Association.
Caton said the goal is to expose children early to an alternate sexual preference. This is all focused on capturing that emotion that children have
the passion that goes with the game, and transferring it into sympathy for the LGBT agenda.
His organization allows people to send an e-mail to 13 of the top officials in BioWare, Electronic Arts, and LucasFilm.
Parents who have an interest in protecting our children from social engineering need to remain diligent, Caton told LifeSiteNews.com. Time is of the essence.

Careful...if you kill too many "LGBT" characters in the game, you might be guilty of a bias crime!
I love to see fellow SWTOR players on FR. 47 Sorcerer here.
The “romancing” of same-sex companions isn’t a big deal. Vette with the shock collar and the torture in this game are worse, but still not bad enough to write a news article about it.
Do Kirk and Spock know about this?
Given the number of times they’ve been shipped together, I’d say so.
This isn’t as surprising as you think.
George Lucas is a Progressivik Obama Drone, pretty much like the rest of Hollyweird. (Lucas personally approves of all Star Wars products. Yeah, he knew, yeah he aproves.)
That’s fine. I will never buy another Star Wars product again.

So what? Seeing cartoonish violence doesn't harm or influence children or cause them to be violent. But exposure to sexuality does influence their thought processes and future behavior.
We all have to know about violence and learn how to use violence to defend ourselves from aggressors. It’s part of a healthy society. But learning homosexuality is counterproductive to a healthy society.
You have said it.
>>So what? Seeing cartoonish violence doesn’t harm or influence children or cause them to be violent. But exposure to sexuality does influence their thought processes and future behavior.
Are you serious? I’m 49 years old and the level of evil violence in this game disturbs me. In most MMOs, you kill more creatures and monsters than you do people. In this one, you mostly kill people. I have a male Sith Warrior character. In one case, I fought my way through hundreds of men and women, who I slaughtered with my lightsaber, before I got to the bad guy’s son, who I was sent to kill. I decided to not kill the son and killed the bad guy instead (Lord Grantham for the SWTOR players out there). Then, I came back and had sex with his widow and made my female companion (who, BTW, is my slave and was given to me as a graduation present by my Sith Lord) watch.
And this was the Light Side choice in the mission. The Dark Side choice would have had me kill the son and his mother.
I hate the homosexual agenda as much as anyone, but romance in this game is optional. My characters will not attempt to romance any same-sex NPCs or companions because I choose not to. The game just provides romance (normal or homosexual) as a player option. All romance is done in a way that can’t be viewed by other players and all sexual encounters are just a black screen.
You should always consult an expert...

...and then you say this.

Obviously, the "evil violence" in the game doesn't disturb you very much or you wouldn't play. Your comment is like someone complaining about theft and then talking about how they just finished robbing a liqueur store.
"Killing" is a vital part of a person's survival skills. Back in the old days, parents taught children to hunt, gut their kill, slaughter livestock and kill predators. This was to put food on the table. In times of social upheavals, those same skills kept the family and it's property safe from bandits and marauders. Homosexuality, however, does nothing to ensure survival. Instead it promotes disease and shortens lifespans. Do a search on STD rates among homosexuals and also on "gay bowel disorder."

If you are going to quote me, be honest and quote my last paragraph before you start hinting that I am in favor of the gay agenda.
I wasn't saying you were in favor of the gay agenda. I pointing out that you seem to believe that violence in video games is more dangerous to children than the "homo-normative" propoganda.
So, if the violence bothers you so much, why do you play?
;’)
I’ve been playing MMOs for more than 10 years. Its a hobby. This game is part of an evolution in the genre. Star Wars has Dark and Light. As I said several posts ago, I only have one Dark Side character. The rest are Light Side or neutral.
I’m also old enough to know the difference between hunting and killing for food and defense and gratuituous murder. Most teens do not and are desensitized to violence through TV, movies, games, and even sporting events like UFC.
Is SWTOR going to turn anyone into a murderer? I doubt it. But is it going to turn anyone homosexual either? Again, I doubt it. After all, is one flirty encounter with an NPC going to affect a child’s worldview more than a thousand kills with a lightsaber or blaster?
I will wait to actually see the game content before I pass judgement. Now if they make homo romance more common or easier or more graphic than straight romance, I will report back here and start screaming for action.
But until then, I think that there are enough FReepers playing the game that the rest of you need to defer to our experience. I promise I will report back after the patch adds the gay content. Fair enough?
Well said. You’ve made a lot of good points.
As far as hunting and slaughtering animals for food, most children don’t have these opportunities. In the not too distant past, it was considered “a rite of passage.”
There have been studies that claim gratuitous violence can desensitize kids and make them more likely to participate in violent acts. I think “most” games are alright if there’s a responsible parent instilling values...
