RE: NO STATEHOOD
Why statehood? Just declare independence — The Republic of Puerto Rico.
The Philippines became independent over 70 years ago and their democracy is still thriving and they’re still friendly to America.
Why can’t Puerto Rico be the same?
Why does this issue even keep coming up?
Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States. Every so often, we hear that they may want either independence or statehood. Why is it either/or? Why do they have to change their current status at all? Who is pressuring for it?
Or, why do we hear calls for statehood for Puerto Rico, but never for Guam, American Samoa, the Virgin Islands, etc. What is so special about Puerto Rico that they should be a state?
>>Why cant Puerto Rico be the same?<<
Indepencia=No mas dinero de EUUA...
agreed!

In complete agreement.
Puerto Rico should NEVER become a state. Rather, if anything, it should be granted independence and “go its own way”.
The real question regarding Puerto Rican statehood should be, “would the USA be better off with or withOUT Puerto Rico as a state?”
I believe we would be better off withOUT the island.
Statehood for P.R.? No thanks....
