BEIJING As the Chinese government forges ahead on a multibillion-dollar effort to blanket the country with surveillance cameras, one American company stands to profit: Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mitt Romney.
In December, a Bain-run fund in which a Romney family blind trust has holdings purchased the video surveillance division of a Chinese company that claims to be the largest supplier to the governments Safe Cities program, a highly advanced monitoring system that allows the authorities to watch over university campuses, hospitals, mosques and movie theaters from centralized command posts.
The Bain-owned company, Uniview Technologies, (浙江宇视科技有限公司) produces what it calls infrared antiriot cameras and software that enable police officials in different jurisdictions to share images in real time through the Internet. Previous projects have included an emergency command center in Tibet that provides a solid foundation for the maintenance of social stability and the protection of peoples peaceful life, according to Univiews Web site.

MSNBC talking about this too?
Obama’s jobs czar knows how to create jobs in China
November 17, 2011 - Baltimore Sun
General Electric is planning to move its 115 year old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Bejing. In addition to moving this headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China, train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. Remember this is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year but paid no taxes.
President Obama appointed GE chairman Jeffrey Immelt to head his commission on job creation in the United States. But it appears that President Obama forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating jobs for.

Pretty bad. Yes. Good point!
Let's keep the thread on MITT ROMNEY/PRC this morning, though, if we can. :-) I think personally this story could in fact grow legs, about Gov. Romney's investment of funds in companies directly involved in the Red Chinese domestic state police (and police state!) infrastructure, and therefore, in surveillance of the Chinese People.

You probably need to hit “Abuse” on your own duplicate posts (or maybe one of them), and alert them that way. Good luck!

The loss of freedom in this country is my concern. The increasing survaillance in THIS country is an important election issue.

Disagree.
What goes around, comes around.
Believe me. Push those kinds of US products in China on a mass scale, and they will roll out the same types of products for monitoring YOU and ME in the US, with the profits from their China operations. Its all seemless, and on top of that, besides, the Chinese people deserve freedom (they scream out as much for it on Obama's Google Plus account, flooding it in the last few weeks) as much as any other people in the world. They have been enslaved for way too long; what the hell our US businesses doing, having a technical and profit-motive hand in that Communist oppression? I think we should not contenance it anywhere in the world...if we truly stand for America and for Freedom.

If you read the second part of my post, you will understand that I despise the surveillance already in the US. Horrific loss of liberty at hand now.
The Chinese people need to deal with their own government's totalitarian surveillance and WE need to deal with our government's totalitarian surveillance.

Romney: “ Yeah, I ran Bain Capital, but I was only a “figurehead”. I was just a money raiser.....I had nothing to do with day to day operations”
Think he wouldn’t say this, if the $hit hit the fan?
Hint.....NOTHING is beneath Romney : )

This is a non issue. This on the scale of the left blaming Cheney for doing business with terrorist supporting Iran when he was in charge of Haliburton.

That would mean that Romney doesn't actually know jacksh*t about 'creating jobs', only about padding the pockets of his liberal pals (and his own, of course).
Nothing wrong with making money, not at all but nobody is going to tell me that Romney is some sort of latter day acolyte of the one serious economic policy that WORKED, which is the 'bane' (pun intended) of all true leftists, and that is , why?
Because it LIMITS government spending, CUTS taxes on all wage earning Americans, ENCOURAGES consumer spending, which actually increases incoming revenue for the government, allowing it to operate without continuous tax hikes, fees and other socialistic garbage.
