The personal computer, which has had as much or more impact on the world as the airplane, was also developed privately.

I am not sure that scenario could happen today. You would be required to partner with the government somehow. And, to sell the product you would need a blizzard of licenses and bureaucratic approvals of all sorts. It would be crazy.

I do not really know if it was the specific intent of government to stifle private ingenuity and invention, but they have done so.

When the government gets out of the way with all forms of intrusions, taxes, licenses, etceteras, entrapanutship thrives. The more government interference in the private sector, the less that this sector will produce.

Atlas does indeed shrug.

Leftists and children cannot comprehend this. As a result of whatever childhood trauma or indoctrination they endured, they believe that even if you take all the money from a guy who works, invents, and produces, he will still continue to work, invent, and produce. The don't understand that eventually the money will stop. It is like trying to explain basic life skills to children.

Good points! And yes, they really don’t understand that they’re doing that age-old thing, killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
