Pa. House passes voter ID bill

By Angela Couloumbis

HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania's House of Representatives has approved the so-called Voter ID bill, setting the stage for Pennsylvania to become the 16th state to require voters to show photo identification at the polls.

The House on Wednesday voted 104-to-88 - and almost strictly along partisan lines -- to pass the measure, which would be in effect in time for the fall presidential election.

Gov. Corbett has said he will sign it "right away."

Democrats, civil liberties groups, labor unions, the NAACP and others have complained that the bill will disproportionately hurt the elderly, the poor and the disabled, who make up the lion's share of voters who typically do not have photo IDs. Those groups also tend to vote Democratic.

Other states with voter ID laws have been facing legal challenges. In Texas, the U.S. Department of Justice's civil right division on Monday objected to a photo voter identification law because it found it would have a greater impact on Hispanic voters. As a state with a history of voter discrimination, Texas is required under the Voting Rights Act to get advance approval of voting changes from either the Justice Department or the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.

Also Monday, a second judge in Wisconsin struck down that state's voter identification law, calling it unconstitutional because it would restrict the right to vote. That came less than a week after another judge ordered a temporary injunction on it.

The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) is a database of death records created from the United States Social Security Administration’s Death Master File Extract. Most persons who have died since 1962 who had a Social Security Number (SSN) and whose death has been reported to the Social Security Administration are listed in the SSDI.If county and state registrars link their files to this it would eliminate most of the voter fraud.

You are required to produce an ID on request from a Peace Officer in every jurisdiction in the country. You need an ID to get welfare (the democrat base). You need an ID to travel almost anywhere, even by bus or train.

The only people who don’t have IDs are illegal and even many of them have fake ones (that is what is really going on here — fear of busting illegals using IDs that belong to others).

Good, Holders move against Texas was an attempt to deter other states from applying their rights, to protect against voter fraud.

I’m disabled. I have multiple forms of photo ID that I can easily show when asked to vote. It’s obvious that the Democrats are afraid of losing the “votes” of another group which isn’t listed above, who would not have valid photo ID. Way too obvious.

I had to show an ID at Target to get cold medicine and I work there. I had to show ID at Home Depot to get a utility knife.

This is certain to call down the wrath of Eric Holder.

Eric Holder is surely the least competent Attourey General the US has ever had the misfortune to endure. He not only discharges his official duties in a manner contrary to established law, he has a certain willful ignorance of what is going on in his own Department of Justice. He had to know about the “Fast and Furious” gun walking scheme right from the beginning, yet he feigns total surprise that such a thing could be happening, as he only learns of these things by reading the newspapers. And he can see no criminal activity on the part of the Black Panthers when it comes to vote suppression, denying access to the polls and open intimidation of those voters whom the Black Panthers have designated as not contributing to their interests.

Where is RICO when you need it?

A north-eastern state, like Pa, having voter I’d is far more significant that a state like Georgia having it.

Obviously Target and Home Depot are in the conspiracy to disenfranchise voters. What is next, they will insist that voters be alive? God, that requirement would end all democrats seats pretty much country-wide.

Good.

Let him sue every single one of those states. It will backfire on him big-time, because the idea that the federal government would sue states for holding open and free elections would horrify the average voter.

I believe this will help the Republicans.

Many other countries require Voter ID in order to vote.

Disproportionately hurt this or that group. Hah! My bank, which is typical, will not let you open an account without a photo ID. For that matter, many banks will not let you cash a paycheck or government check if you have no account with them, an account you can’t open without the photo ID. I believe welfare also requires a photo ID. Most employers want to see one. Some colleges demand to see proof of ID. You certainly need to show it to buy alcohol, tobacco, and firearms.
Most people HAVE a photo ID already. It’s that hard to live without one.

I’m not sure, but I think that Georgia has a much higher percentage of illegal aliens than Pennsylvania, particularly in North Georgia and Atlanta. Could any Georgians and Pennsylvanians confirm this?

Right...the same ol' Red Herring to cloud the FRAUD that is the basis for MANY Democrat wins.

How about those who don't have Photo ID, and do NOT recieve ANY Taxpayer-funded "assistance" do the complaining about dis-enfranchisement? We don't want the inner-city parasites and illegal aliens, dead people, and multi-voting by the inner-city tribal parasites, either.....DEAL WITH IT.
