I guess its better than the iPod filled with his speeches he gave to the Queen.
(ABC News) President and First Lady Obama gifted UK Prime Minister and Mrs. Cameron a one-of-a-kind Braten 1000 Series Grill hand made by Engelbrecht Grills and Cookers of Paxton, Ill.
The grill normally retails for $1,895, but this one cost significantly more not only because it was a nicer version, but because the White House insisted that every part of the grill be American-made.
Kyle Bloomstrand, vice president of Engelbrecht Grills and Cookers, tells ABC News that the body of the grill is the same one as is always for sale, but that since normally some of the parts in their upscale grill are made in other countries, that had to change for this official White House gift. Everything in this custom-made grill was Made in America, which required some parts the wheels, for instance to be custom-made.

Is it one of those “some assembly required” grills? Now they’ve got to figure out a way to get it home. I guess a gift certificate would have been considered tacky.....
"It's just like cash ... just not as convenient."
Actually even in NC there is a conflict that rivals the civil war concerning tomato sauce or ketchup in barbecue sauce.
Eastern NC (my location) is vinegar, peppers, sugar and a few spices but the idiots around Lexington NC have decided that it needed color so they adulterated the real thing (they even put ketchup in the slaw)and it is known as Lexington style.
A $2,000+ grill? For someone who lives in London?
Well, I guess he can grill out on the few days of sunshine...but a $20 Hibachi may have done the job as well. I doubt either will ever be used.
Doesn't look like $1800 to me...
Eastern North Carolina is vinegar based. . however, central and western North Carolina; it's tomato-based. BOTH are DElicious!!
Kenny Bolick says Eastern North Carolina specializes in a vinegar based BBQ. . .Central and Western North Carolina is known for its tomato-based recipe. Kenny says he can go both ways!! mmmmm good. That Kenny Bolick. . .he don’t know shoes. . .but he sure knows BBQ! Kenny says BBQ done right just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. . .you don’t even need to chew. . which is good for Kenny. . .I mean, him havin only 3 teeth and all. . .
If I was Cameron and forced to attend, I'd bring a toilet seat from and old slave ship. It would interest the Obama side of the family as slave traders and has Historical American value as a treasure.
We do, but not as often. The weather precludes...
Is go to Amish PA and get something with craftmanship
I would (not is)...sorry
Really good point.
Kinda sad, isn’t it? We have to go to an Amish community to get something that is truly American made ... that’s kinda pathetic.
There are local crafters in most cities that represent the region. But, I suppose he wanted the union made label.
You know..he could have had a local Chicago artist make something of one of the legendary Chicago jazz or blues artist. That would have been kind of interesting.
