Another Tuesday, another failure by Mitt Romney to line up the party faithful behind him.
Not only did Romney lose yesterday's contests in Alabama and Mississippi, but he finished third in both, putting him behind Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.
Even though Romney remains well ahead in the delegate count and even though he'll still likely win the nomination, he just can't put those nagging doubts among conservatives to rest.
CNN political contributor Paul Begala writes for The Daily Beast that Romney has gone from inevitable to unelectable:
"Somebody strap him to the roof of one of his Cadillacs and drive him off to one of his many mansions." Ouch.
Begala says the hard truth is the more voters see Romney, the less they like him. Begala calls on Romney to get out of the race.
Of course that's not happening, but Romney isn't doing himself any favors here.
On this very program yesterday, Romney proclaimed Rick Santorum was at the "desperate end" of his campaign.
24 hours later it almost looks like it's the other way around. Romney looks like the desperate one - with Southern conservatives seeing right through his supposed love for cheesy grits and catfish.

Can I have “Questions that have the answers as part of the question” for $500, please, Alex.
Romney has a problem recognition problem.
The main problem is that the US Federal Government is 41 % to large, as measured by its need to borrow 41 % of its money every year.
Romney has no plans that will shrink the US Federal Government by 41 % in 1, 10 or 100 years.
The voters recognize the main problem, but Romney does not.
Thanks to Newt and now Santorum, Romney is showing the voters that he is a big spender in this Primary Campaign, and he will probably also be a big spender if elected POTUS.
The secondary problem Romney has is that the Liberal Agenda Media (LAM) want Romney to loose to Obama in the General Election.
Thus Romney and the LAM share the same problem: both want Obama”care” to destroy America.
You need to add, "please send money for our next election", right after you fill in the survey of the most important issues of the day.
Yeah, that'll work.
Not that anyone here gives a d@mn, but my official stance at this point in the game is I will be at the polls on November 6th come hell or high water and will vote for the person with the (R) next to their name for President.
Of the 3, I wish it was Newt, but I don't see it happening. If Ricky gets in by Divine intervention, so be it. If flip-floppin' Mittens gets the nod, I will take him over the America-hating, wannabe dictator and his low-life wife ANY DAY. Voting for Mitt is a bitter pill, but I do not think he hates America like Zero and his ilk.
Mitt’s problem is he’s NOT a Conservative. What we need right now is Conservative leadership to get this country back on track. The DemocRATS are trying to destroy us.So far they have done a Great Job at it.But then we all knew they would.
Unfortunately for Mitt Romney, his record in Massachusetts speaks for itself.
Mitt’s biggest problem? Me. I’m not going to vote for an “Obama-lite” so that when health care is re-confirmed under Romney people can say the Republicans did it. Nope. I’ll spend my time, energy and money (and my vote) on putting conservatives in congress. Control the congress, we control Obama. But if Romney gets in, we LOSE CONTROL TOTALLY because the “republican establishment” will give us more “moderation” which in little doses has KILLED us since after Reagan.
Look at the upside.
Baraq will be in charge when the debt bomb explodes in 2015.
Baraq Hoover Obama.
"Somebody strap him to the roof of one of his Cadillacs and drive him off to one of his many mansions." Ouch.
I am a cat person, but I can't imagine putting one of my little buddies in such misery for even a moment.
If given the chance, I would like to land a square and not to light hay-maker against in his protruding jaw on behalf of old Seamus! I guarantee...he won't be sticking his jaw out proudly again.
Biggest Problem? There are many, but here’s two....
1. A Conservative from the Northeast, especially Massachusetts, is nothing but a Liberal to the rest of the country.
2. He’s completely full of S**T
