WASHINGTON (AP) Mitt Romney's losses in Alabama and Mississippi underscore a stark reality: The core of his party does not want him.
And that lingering conservative dissatisfaction on display Tuesday night threatens to follow Romney into a general election matchup against a Democratic president whose ability to inspire his base is not in question.
Romney's huge lead in the race for delegates to this summer's GOP nominating convention seemed forgotten for a night as Rick Santorum reveled in twin victories handed to him by conservatives and evangelicals who dominate the Republican electorate in the party's only remaining regional stronghold the South.
Santorum's success and Romney's failure exposed deep divisions within a party torn between a conservative base that's looking for a candidate who is pure on GOP orthodoxy and the rest of the party, which is looking for a nominee able to beat President Barack Obama. Tuesday's outcomes also virtually ensure the increasingly nasty slog toward the Republican presidential nomination will consume even more of Romney's time, energy and money when he'd rather be focused solely on the general election, and Obama.

“The core of his party does not want him.”
Understatement of the year.
Just because he spends million$ on negative campaigning against "fellow" republicans, and just because we have no idea what his core stands for, is no reason to jump to the conclusion we don't want him...
Then who is voting for him in the primaries? Leftist Dems?
“Inevitable” ain’t cheap.
“Then who is voting for him in the primaries? Leftist Dems?” Yep! All Mittens has won in is Caucuses(- Iowa) and “Open” Primaries!
Futhermore, he needs 46% of the remaining vote to win the nomination outright, he won’t get 46% of the remaining vote and each primary he does not get 46% of the vote, that percentage only goes higher.
there is one new opinion i’ve formed about last night’s results. i’ve always opposed romney on grounds of conscience. but now i perceive that romney is very weak and should see for himself that he should get out. i hope his supporters may start to realize this. he is clearly a fatally flawed candidate in terms of his supporter’s own criteria, electability.
as for mr. gingrich, if i were him, i’d pray and hear what our Lord has to say to him. if he is moved by God to stay in, then stay in. if not, well then i hope he can humble himself.
Limbaugh notes that Romney is winning like a liberal. He’s winning population centers and his win map looks like Obama’s win map. He can’t possibly win those areas against Obama in the general election so he’ll have to win in all the area’s he’s losing now.
Then who is voting for him in the primaries? Leftist Dems?

Nope; the Moderate and easily influenced, uninformed Pubbies. RINO dude only gets about 1/3 of the votes but Newt, Rick and Kook-daddy split the anti-Romney vote so he wins; except in Mississippi and Alabama.
Having given it much thought, I've come to the conclusion why so many conservatives dislike and distrust Romney. He essentially is an amalgam of McCain, Kerry, and Obama.
Ditto on that. Any open primary is very suspect.
1. The Leftist Pubs
2. The easily Duped and Uninformed
3. The bought and paid for
4. The GOP-E
5. The Winning without principles types
6. The Democrats (Open Primaries)
RINOmney...a potential infinite power source.
Just hook a generator to his rapidly rotating “position vane”.
He was, is, and always will be a vapid dork.
“Then who is voting for him in the primaries? Leftist Dems?”
Party First drones. Cult First Drones. Closet Buggery First and uncloseted Log Cabin drones. Closet Margaret Sanger enthusiasts. Global Warming drones. Portfolio first country club drones. NWO/Globalist/Transnational drones. Big Government drones. Women of a certain age who cannot see beyond a bulging wallet and expensive tie.
That about covers it for the pro-abortion, pro-sodomy, pro-government HealthControl, anti-Second Amendment, chickenhawk Republicans who support Bishop Willard. Pretty similar profile to those who still support McCain, Graham, Snowe, Murkowski, Boehner, Bush 1, Bush 2, Bush 2.5. The Rockefeller tail that has wagged the Reagan dog for the past generation, in a nutshell.
So yes, Leftist Democrats but for the fact they can balance a checkbook. Sometimes.
IMO, fox and their ilk, to include a great many so called conservative organizations, commentators and such have screwed the pooch. They will be paying a long, long time for their, nobody but Mittens and every other candidate is a rotten SOB.
I have now lost count of the people whom I used to respect, but now wish them a painful trip to Hades.
“as for mr. gingrich, if i were him, id pray and hear what our Lord has to say to him. if he is moved by God to stay in, then stay in. if not, well then i hope he can humble himself.”
That is very good advice. I admire Governor Perry for doing that very thing.
Let’s face it, the only thing that has kept Romney in this race is his money. In a battle of ideas and charisma, Romney would finish fourth, well below Ron Paul.
Imagine if Santorum or Newt had Romney’s campaign cash, plus a four year head start (Romney has been running since 2008).
The GOP establishment must face reality... the base just doesn’t like their annointed one.
Mitt Romney, the worst candidate money can buy.
