Are the taxes on gas really that high in DC? The point remains the same, but we’re sitting at nearly $2 per gallon less expensive.
Are the taxes on gas really that high in DC?....Unintended consequences, I think. The entrepreneurs probably figure “These overpaid drones need to get to their offices, now let them pay”. Good.
Gasoline Fuel Taxes by State including D.C.
DC is about the middle, neither high nor low.
That’s the station outside the Watergate - famously expensive. Only Potomac (village,) Great Falls, and possibly “Montgomery Mall” have higher gas prices in the DC area.
That station is at the corner of Virginia and Rock Creek Parkway, right at the edge of the Watergate. It has always been comically overpriced, even 50 cents more than the station right across the street. If you’re headed out of the city that way, it’s the last station there to use.
I’ve never done anything more than drive by, but I’ve heard that the mechanics are absolute thieves as well.
It's $3.999 here in my part of central Illinois. That's real, real close to four bucks, with any kind of luck it will hit $5 by election time.
However, if the republican nominee is Romney, I don't care, I won't vote for either of the evils.
Land values and lack of (much) local competition are a big cost driver there.
It’s higher at the gas station in that pic ALWAYS, because it’s IN dc and right near rock creek park, and like it says— walking distance from the WH. there are very few gas stations IN DC proper. I got gas this AM on my way in to work from surburban Fairfax and i paid $4.05, which is still way up from last week.
Across the river from DC in Bethesda, MD, gas is going for $4.79 a gallon.
That may be the gas station over by the Kennedy Center. For some reason it’s always about $2.00 higher than the national average. Guess they don’t want anyone to bother them.
