You are so wrong on that (said nicely, of course).

Obama is killing us right now with grossly Unconstitutional executive orders, refusals to enforce laws he doesn't like, and pissing all over the legislative branch. What is (any) congress going to do when the President violates the law on a daily basis, as is the case now? Nothing. Realistically, we barely have what could be considered a functioning national legislature.

Filibusters don't mean squat.

Now there is a pipe dream if I ever heard one. Show me one single event since the GOP took the House in Nov 2010 that shows the GOP has a spine. AND don't throw up the bills the House passed in which they knew they were going into little Harry Reid's file 13. Those were gutless and defenseless acts of political theater - when in fact the HOUSE should have balked at passing a Continuing Resolution and balked at increasing the debt limit on the won's credit card - that would have showed REAL GUTS.

Must I remind you the GOP in the Senate held no filibuster to stop Sonya Soto-Mayor or Elena Kagan appointed to SCOTUS, nor has any GOPer in Congress done anything about Zero "recess" appointing other officials that require a Senate vote when Congress was NOT recessed.

There simply is no alternative but to remove Zero - he will have up to three more Justices appointed to SCOTUS in the next four years and that will change the makeup of the Fed Govt tyranny forever in our life times. My kids and grand kids are too valuable to trust stopping Zero to a Senate barely in control by some RINO Senators (McLame and his boy friend).

Newt said tonight he’s staying in the race to keep Romney from getting the delegates to clinch the nomination. He said if both he and Santorum keep getting delegates that he is keeping Romney from getting them. Since he’s a hell of alot smarter than I am, I say GO NEWT! Anything to keep the liberal from Mass from getting the nomination.

The 1920 election, which Newt Gingrich has been citing, is one example of the frontrunner losing. There have been more recent brokered conventions, the most recent a half-century ago. However, if it were not for the superdelegates, the 2008 Democratic Party race would have been a brokered convention. Essentially we had a smoke-filled room in the weeks between the end of the primaries and the beginning of the convention, with party insiders pressured to say who they would support to avoid a brokered convention.

Back to 1920: in that year, the Republican frontrunner was Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood, a Medal of Honor recipient for personal bravery during the Indian wars in the American Southwest. He was a military medical doctor who revitalized the Cuban health system after the American conquest and during World War II was a key expert and innovator in military training. He was also vilified by Mark Twain for atrocities against the Muslims in the Philippines, since he believed the only way to defeat the Islamic insurrection against America was to use tactics that even Sherman didn't use in Georgia.

The Republicans ditched him in convention and replaced him with a presidential nominee who generated scandal after scandal for the party. Republicans exchanged a properly vetted candidate with known problems for a new face whose problems proved to be far worse. That's a very real risk if you get a candidate without proper vetting in a primary. If it hadn't been for Calvin Coolidge as vice-president, a man known for strict honestly, the Warren Harding nomination would have been a disaster for Republicans.

That should be a very strong warning to Republicans who want to go to convention and replace Romney with some other moderate Republican, and the same for conservatives who want to get a conservative candidate who is not Gingrich or Santorum.

BTW, I live outside Fort Leonard Wood, which was named for Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood long after his death.

Back to Drudge: I hope this is a warning that early polls can be wrong, especially in close elections. Polls have value but they are not infallible.

I hate this as much as you do.

However, passing a law regulating non-broadcast media would be unconstitutional. While broadcast stations are subject to federal licensing regulations determining who can put up a transmission tower, the government has no constitutional right to regulate print media in any way, and the same should be true for cable and internet operations.

I'm well aware that CNN and FOX fear the possibility of an adverse court ruling and they act as if they were broadcast outlets, plus FOX has broadcast affiliates and has to worry about issues in that area.

However, Drudge cannot be controlled under current law. Any legal efforts to regulate Drudge would also be able to regulate Free Republic. I think we all understand the risks if Clinton or Obama could regulate what we do on Free Republic.

So it’s better that a guy like Drudge declares a winner 3 hours before the polls close, and influence those who haven’t voted yet, to just go straight home after work and not bother voting because there already is a winner.

Anyone who goes home and skips voting because of what Drudge says is too stupid to be entrusted with a vote. It's better that they stay home.
