CBO: Obamacare to cost $1.76 trillion over 10 yrs
washingtonexaminer ^ | 3/13/12 | Philip Klein

Today, the CBO released new projections from 2013 extending through 2022, and the results are as critics expected: the ten-year cost of the law's core provisions to expand health insurance coverage has now ballooned to $1.76 trillion. That's because we now have estimates for Obamacare's first nine years of full implementation, rather than the mere six when it was signed into law. Only next year will we get a true ten-year cost estimate, if the law isn't overturned by the Supreme Court or repealed by then. Given that in 2022, the last year available, the gross cost of the coverage expansions are $265 billion, we're likely looking at about $2 trillion over the first decade, or more than double what Obama advertised.

And government cost estimates are always low by at least a factor of two.

This must be spread far and wide and used in the campaign, this is campaign killing material or it should be.

$1.76 trillion is now the official cost of chicken feed, because when the real cost for the first ten years comes in, that’s what $1.76 trillion is going to look like.

"we're likely looking at about $2 trillion over the first decade"

I've got a bridge to sell anyone who thinks it won't be a least twice that and even 2 trillion is bad enough. How long can you survive on incomprehensible amounts of imaginary capital before the whole roof caves in?

This is such a big mess now, it could torpedo his campaign and sink it.

What as bad as these numbers is the now undeniable fact the Dems intentionally staged the numbers to decieve the public and hide this fact in order to get it passed. But hey, hard to focus on these things when we’ve got pressing issues like free contraception to deal with.

Whaddya worrying about? Bernanke will print the money so we all can have FREE! healthcare - it's a RIGHT, you know. FDR and Obama say so.

Dear NATO Allies,

We’d really like to help you out with your little problem involving the Turkish Caliphate, the ChiCom Blitzkrieg, and the New Soviet Empire. But we have appendectomies and birth control to pay for. Best wishes and good luck.

So 1.76 trillion for Obamacare. Does anyone know how much we would be paying for those same uninsured? Is there any savings at all? We should be telling the American people how much we would be spending if we did not have Obamacare. It is not an either or type of thing. We are paying something and if it is less money then Obamacare maybe that is the tactic that we should take.

@ TRILLION? Obama’s whole plan is to bankrupt the USA, and if not stopped, he will.

This doesn’t include the cost shifting that is occuring for private health plans. I.e. our insurance policies are going way up in cost but the services covered are going down. This money is being used by insurance companies to help cover people who can’t pay full price.
