Industrial Policy: A leading consumer product testing firm takes one of the administration's dream green cars for a spin and had to call a gasoline-powered flatbed truck to tow the lemon away.
At least it can go from zero to $529 million in stimulus dollars in nothing flat. When the testers at Consumer Reports took it for a test drive, not only was the $107,850 dream car unable to complete the evaluation, but also it had to be towed away, a visible metaphor for the Obama administration's green energy failures.
In a test conducted last Wednesday by Consumer Reports magazine, the niche-market sports car conked out after a short ride at 65 miles an hour on a Connecticut test track.
"Our Fisker Karma ... is super sleek, high-tech and now it's broken," Consumer Reports wrote on its website late last Thursday.
"We buy about 80 cars a year, and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undrivable before it has finished our check-in process," noted the consumer watchdog.
At least the battery didn't catch fire, which is what happened with the Chevy Volt in crash tests.
We don't know if the Fisker Karma comes with free towing along with the current $7,500, soon to be $10,000, subsidy for its purchasers who count themselves among the one percenters that Occupy Wall Street rails against.
But they probably can afford it. General Motors CEO Dan Akerson, speaking of the Karma's electric cousin, related in a recent interview that "the average purchaser of a Volt is earning $170,000 a year."

Another day in Obamaland.
Now go pay your taxes: the Ruling Class is broke. :)
Toyota launched its newest version of the Prius today....57 mpg and under $20,000. Who will buy Government Motors’ turkey, the Volt, at over $40,000 and a range of 40 miles in its electric mode? Oh silly me...of course, the Federal Government will buy fleets of them to make it seem as though it is gaining market share. What a hoax this entire administration is!
Above my pay-grade, and way below my IQ, to ever own/drive/tow that “greenie-crap” POS.

Biodiesel makes a lot more sense!
Where is the outcry that the $7,500 soon to be $10,000 tax credit to buy one of these lemons is a tax cut for the rich.
Nancy? Harry? Democrat Congressional commies?
Hypocrites.
By the time we get rid of this fool, he will be handing out $25k rebates.
That’s a pretty cheap car with good mileage. It makes this 20k mile per year SUV driver think about trading for a little econobox with 50+ mpg.
Too bad so much of my job involves driving down dirt roads chasing news stories. I wish Toyota would come out with a hybrid RAV4. Just enough SUV to get me through rutted roads and deep snow, but not as expensive as the hybrid Highlander.
Liberals...play at building cars...play at building housing..play at having families...play at being mortgage brokers...play at being traders ...and play at being doctors...and play at presidentin!!!
they dont REALLY DO a DA*% THING useful...except to provide a contrast to reality!!!
The silly thing went tilt on its maiden drive and then stuck in neutral and would not go back into drive gear.
Whoever was supposed to be in charge of quality control for that one is going to get bawled out pretty bad, I imagine.
Fisker would be better off dropping a Hemi V8 in the thing and actually make some money.
Maybe we can get the Highway patrols to equip with nothing but volts. Like when Jerry Brown gave the Highway patrol nothing but 4 cylinder Dodge Omni’s....

I get 52 mpg from my2002 VW Jetta and it cost me way less then 20 K.
