BILOXI, Miss. - Rick Santorum said today that if a U.S. soldier shot and killed 16 civilians, as U.S. officials have suggested, then the Afghan people deserve an apology.
After an energy conference here, Santorum told reporters that the incident needs to be investigated further, calling it a "horrible situation."
"If it turns out to be the case that this person did a horrible wrong and it was a deliberate act, a deliberate act by an American soldier and that is something we should clearly say was something that we should apologize for," Santorum said. "That it's not a mistake, it wasn't something that was inadvertent. This was something that was deliberately done by an American soldier to innocent civilians. It's something that the proper authorities should apologize for, for not doing their job in making sure that something like this wouldn't happen, something like this should not happen in our military period."

ROE fail.
This.
We should send congress over there with Daisy Red Rider BB guns.
Then I will feel that they have done a job worth doing.
Seems that someone has flipped your pancake and broken your egg.
LOL! I was thinking of frying up some bacon to go along with it!
LOL!
We should apologize at the same news conference where we announce our withdraw over the next 60 days.
The Korans in question had been desecrated by being scribbled in (by Moose), and while burning is not the "preferred" way it is still considered respectful. Just because a Moose did not touch the match to them, however, it generated a riot.
There are so many bogus “sorries” being uttered by the Obama administration that if an occasion for a real one should come along, nobody can tell the difference.
You mean like when this crazy dude kicked in the door and killed unarmed women and children? Or the part about when he then burned the bodies?
Chris Wallace grilled Gingrich on this point on Fox News Sunday and later spoke with McCain who seemed to think that under Newt’s plan to leave, Al-Quaeda will regain a foothold and more in Afghanistan that was the base for the 9/11 attacks.
America does NOT apologize for fighting for liberty, or for sending our men and women over there to die, in order to free them from Islamic tyranny.
But I will say, you sound like a Paultard. Cut and run, to let Islamic rule engulf the World.
Sixteen human beings is at a whole different level than a couple of Korans being burned.
That being said, the facts of the case are not yet in, and the Left is spinning this furiously in their typical “Crazed Militaristic Killers” paradigm.
If there’s one thing I’ve figured out during the past 6 years it is to NEVER presume that stories of “massacres” on foreign battlefields are true. I think I’ll wait for all the facts to come in from sources I trust before I venture too far into this story.

EXACTLY
Rick is jumping the shark again.
He has to learn when to just shut up. He doesn’t have to have an opinion on everything.
If it’s certain that he was the one who deliberately burned the bodies after the fact, then yeah that changes things.
Right, Chris Wallace, Brit Hume and FOX News would never distort the facts on what Newt Gingrich had to say, or actually tried to say. They are well known for editing things to suit their support for Romney.
And McCain admitted he was very short on making foreign policy decisions, but go ahead, model your views on what McCain and FOX thinks. It becomes you.
Editing not needed. Hear, see, and read for yourself.
In Gingrich’s own words its “not doable” any longer in Afghanistan.
“the facts of the case”
I just saw a news item (news to me) that the soldier had suffered a severe brain trauma but was examined and determined fit for duty.
