[According to] a Japanese government study: Almost a third of Japanese boys aged 16-20 and three-fifths of girls say that they have no interest in sex.
The hormones of late adolescence evidently rage in vain against some cultural barrier that makes young Japanese "despise" sexual relations, according to the Japan Family Planning Association's report [1].
It turns out that the ultimate victim of sexual revolution is sex itself.
What makes the Japanese hate sex? The same things that make a growing proportion of Americans hate sex. Joan Sewell's 2007 book I'd Rather Eat Chocolate became the manifesto of American women who don't like sex, hailed at the as "the next wild turn in the female sexual revolution" by Sandra Tsing Loh in The Atlantic Monthly [2].
Pharmaceutical companies are racing to market a pill to revive fading female libido, to no avail: women do not want to be sex objects, and a culture that objectifies women will make them hate sex, as I wrote in this space five years ago [3]. But the problem has gotten worse than I imagined it would.
[snip]
After half a century of sexual revolution - otherwise known as objectification - women suffer en masse from the sexual equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome, identification with their tormentors, as a number of popular commentators observe.
[snip]
For adolescent girls, the replacement of courtship by "hooking up" with "friends with benefits" is a cruel prospect.
Even though only three out of ten American teenagers aged 13 to 16 are sexually active [7], the options available to adolescent girls are narrowly defined. Adolescent boys are monsters, as anyone who has been one, or known one, can attest...

As an actual writer for a number of years, I looked into romance novels as a resource/income stream. Big money in that biz. And largely indistinguishable from”Dear Penthouse, I never thought this would happen to me but last night....”
It’s porn. Perhaps not XXX but X to be sure.
And ladies, the vast majority of female authors writing them are really named Joe and Dave. Not “Talya Wordsworth Stringfellow.”
The real and deeper issue is the stealing of the soul that such 'unhmane' service to the chemical rush brings about. The rush is obtazined with no connection to a taboo structure, and taboo structures in society have always been connected to a god-fear of one kind or another. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. What do societies become when they eschew wisdom? We are witnessing the phenomenon in our dying American Republic, where serving great lies has become the daily work of the information class (euphemistically called the mainstream media). Disconnecting the human psyche from God is what these are actually serving, and that is sourced in the father of lies, a murderer from the start. Murdering the souls of men and women is the work of, you guessed it, the most hate-filled evil in the Universe.
In countries like Japan, it is not enough for the evil one to turn their society into a godless mire, the evil one feasts upon the death of their souls. Pornographers make a fortune murdering the human soul. But they are even small fries compared to the wholesale soul murder accomplished with addictions. Think in terms of Japanese youth being addicts to a brain rush they have no societal taboos to help them know right from wrong. The Japanese culture, once strong and vibrant, was caught unaware of its vulnerability to the oldest demonic trick, bread and circuses, murderer of cultures for as long as humans have gathered into groups and clans and established taboos.
If the fish are floating, you fed them twice. ;-o)
Idea was around LOOOOng before that ;)
I would amend the above from "...they chose their own husbands" to ""...they chose their own husbands from the subset of candidates acceptable to Father". Disaster follows when teenage girls are allowed unlimited discretion to couple with whatever loser comes along.
Just be careful and don't bend-over in that endeavor.
Here’s another point to ponder. Video games are by nature escapist fun. I love them ahs have played them since the late 70s when they were a novelty.
With the current computers/xbox360/PS3, the realism level is very close to true virtual reality and in involved RPGs (role playing games) lime Elder Scrolls FF13 and the war games, that escapism takes you from a world in which you are powerless to the crap of daily life and puts you, with power, into a fantasy world that suspension of disbelief can become quite ‘real’ to your imagination.
In short, all the WOW players that seem to ‘live’ online, really ARE ‘living’ their lives online. This planet sucks and they through technology, went to one they like more.
The Japanese are so screwed. But imagine this paradigm in
China, where one-child has grievously imbalanced the male-female ratio, and that first imbalanced generation is coming of age. Some subset of Chinese males are completely s-o-l because of the evil their leaders have propogated in the name of state socialism.
I wear a “Do not enter” sign on a belt ;)
The media pumps our heads full of what the perfect man or woman looks(and acts)like. Real people tend to fall short and can be a turn off.
I’m sure the chemicals in food and water don’t help matters.
Go to a site like Cheezburger or other humor site and read the comments attached to pix of ‘normal’ looking men/women. You’d think they escaped from the pound, the ‘fat farm’ (their comments, not mine) or both.
No exaggeration. The number of people today thinking even attractive men/women are ‘fat/gross/ugly/etc” is unreal.
Perception is way skewed to what it once was. I have seen pix of Marylin and Sophia Loren called ‘gross’ and that’s the polite term.
Studies have found that the deep mental involvement with video gaming causes chemical changes int he brain similar to what drug addicts obtain. And studies have compared the drug addicted chemical rushes in the brain to the chemical rush from orgasm
They say the same thing about chocolate, maybe thats why Im so fat.
No bending over.
Also cannot discount the levels of estrogen like chemicals that are in food and other items that we never got expopsed to in the past.
[ Its quite possible that Cybersex, rather than other things (nuclear war, global warming, meteors, etc) may prove to be the extinction event for human beings as we know them.
By that time, we may also find a way to encase our entire consciousness inside robots. That would eliminate the need for reproduction as well. ]
Also you could re-produce by “copying a computer file”, so you can still have population crisis in the so called “cyber age”.
But immortal robots of former humans is kinda scary. You ever watch “Ghost in the Shell”?
Good point. Add the falling testosterone in men and at an earlier age (YAY SOY!). Not a good combo.
If the most consumed food for you is chocolate, then it will destroy you. If the most consumed diet is that of artificial rush, as in video gaming, then it will destroy your natural developemnt. ... BTW, I’m fat because I don’t get enough exercise from my chair and make too many goodies to eat with no one but me to consume them. And yes, I’ve even had to throw away pie because I did not eat it all before it went bad. I make a great ice box no-cook pie. (the recipe is on my profile page, at the end; it has chocolate in it, too!)
Sorry, that was “your” in the sense of “posted by you,” not necessarily “affirmed by you.” My hasty phrasing, no accusation intended.
I’m a lifelong reader of science fiction, so I know the concept has been discussed for a long time, and that the technological capacity will likely be achieved at some point, unless TSHTF and we’re all burning our fence palings to boil kudzu soup in Obama’s America.
However, I think, as I said above, that the technology will not be a world-changing innovation, because it’s based on a false anthropology. If sexual pleasure, or physical pleasure in general, were truly satisfying, we wouldn’t be seeing what’s happening in Japan. We would expect that people who have the capacity to satisfy every sexual desire would devote themselves to that, rather than to additional intellectual, social, financial, artistic, or other accomplishments ... but we don’t see that. That’s the point Mr. Spengler was making - that sex isn’t all that, really, and an excessive focus on sex is a symptom of a society going the wrong direction, like Japan.
Just as there are some heroin addicts, there would be some for whom virtual sex became the most important thing in life. Or, as science fiction authors have proposed, they could simply plug electrodes into the brain’s pleasure center. However, the result would be the same ... more business for the “lonely dead” cleanup companies. (I’m fascinated by new business opportunities. In my retirement years, I’d like to be a “relationship terminator”; I have six vigorous sons and a gun-toting daughter to be my bodyguards! I think it will still be a good financial proposition, because the socializing drive is not going to go away, no matter what technology does.)
