Those of us who understand how the New Blacklist works aren't at all surprised to hear Meatloaf's claim that after being outed as a Republican he now has fewer media outlets interested in helping him to promote his work.
But it's the reaction of the Esquire writer that's most interesting:
MEATLOAF: I'm not dealing with those subjects. Hell in a Handbasket is not dealing with the political nature of the country. It's dealing with the humanity and the compassion of the world. I can give you an example I've been banned from two TV shows.
ESQUIRE: For what?
ML: Because USA Today has me listed as a Republican.
ESQ: And the shows don't want Republican guests?
ML: Yeah. I've heard those stories, but I didn't really believe they'd do that.
ESQ: So the real issue you're getting at on the album is a lack of humanity and compassion in the world?

Excellent!
that’s your right, of course.
Not the decision I would make. And I make it with both eyes open. I am certainly not buying into an “Obama scare tactic.” I doubt he wants me to vote for Mitt in November.
Remember the ABC cartoon series that Mike Judge created and labeled as conservative’? Didn’t work. You can only educate and preach our cause ONLY if you pretend it’s just one of the shows.
Another example is 24. Word of mouth spread about the right-wing angle of the show but dipped when the creator made an interview about his love for Reagan.
Very. Good. Question.
I’ve often, wondered the same thing.
Rush Limbaugh, for example.
Look up National Empowerment Television or N.E.T. as it was called and read it's history. It has been tried and was done during the Clinton scandals. Paul Weyrich ran the network and it was strictly conservative format. Problem was back then you just about had too have a C-Band {the old 10' satellite dish} system to receive it.
Weyrich stepped on some toes including sounding the alarm about Trent Lott's failures as SML. The shows had host like Bill Lind, Janet Parshall, Major Garrett, Michael Reagan, Alan Keyes, John Lofton, and a lot of other great conservatives. It was the ideal conservative network. I still have some of the old shows on VHS.
The network as I understand it ran into some shortage of funding issues so the board outed Weyrich from control and went to a moderate format. The shows were then "On the right side" with Armstrong Williams and Ellen Ratner get the picture? The new network name was called America's Voice. Bob Beckell was even on it.
Yea I wish a good conservative would start a network also. You can look for establishment DC in both parties too use all means available too them to get it shut down though.
Wow... that must have been quite a sight. I’ve communicated with a few FB FOA’s and some are quite concerned about what goes on their public FB pages..
Shameful that in our country, someone living an honorable, law-abiding life would have to live that way to avoid being fired and shunned.
Hope you’re well...
You're right - it's strange.
Since “Bat Out Of Hell” is still one of the top selling albums of all time, I’m sure he’ll be crying all the way to the bank.
[he just released a new album, BTW]
Liberals are terrified of the diversity of ideas. They've become the oppressive Establishment they supposedly fight. Creepy.
Creepy indeed. It’s the Left’s strident disregard of Liberties that reminds us of the totalitarian and fascist regimes belonging to the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Mussolini, etc.
Sometimes I look at what liberal elites are doing and feel concern... other times it's like 'they can't be THAT bad - it'll pass ...
True dat. My point was if zotting Romney supporters was supposed to uphold conservatism, then there were alot of lib ciphers that were missed in the process.
“Ive always liked Meatloafs music.”
The good stuff is Jim Steinman’s music. Saw the “Dream Engine” in ‘69 and been a fan ever since. Meatloaf is Jim’s Tinkerbell.
