Back in the early 1970s I had a friend who went to Berkely and got a degree in Nutrition. She told me there were 2 things I should know:
Bugs won’t eat margerine, so why should you? Butter is best.
Your cutting board is the dirtiest place in your house so clean it with bleach. I don’t clean it with bleach anymore, I clean it with hydrogen peroxide. It doesn’t smell and you can see the germs die. Great feeling.
Walmart sells H2O2 in small spray bottles. I keep one at each sink/lavatory. Beats the heck out of that 60% alcohol hand sanitizer stuff. I have problems with dry skin anyway, don't need to dry my skin out with alcohol.
If your cutting board is wood, no disinfection is needed. Wood itself is a natural bacteria killer. Plastic or other materials OTOH probably "do" need disinfection. But soap and water is more than enough....it lyses (breaks down) the cell wall structure of the bacteria, and "they die". Adding bactericides to soap is like painting a lily and actually increases the incidence of resistant organisms.
