I’m not simply taking the guy’s word for it. I’m going off wheat myself to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn’t, I’ll be less 15 dollars and no other harm done.

The question that ought to be asked about the cholesterol, is whether the cholesterol is following onto damage or whether it is causing damage. You don’t want to necessarily blame the trucks with the asphalt to patch road potholes for causing the road potholes, even though pothole-free roads won’t have any of these trucks on them.

Testing homemade wheat products versus commercial ones should be informative.

Thanks for your post and links.
Statins are indeed truly risky. They can cause severe muscle cramps and worse...even death, if I understood the pharmacology book correctly.

Im a physician. What I am saying, and I can back it up with more publications than you would have time to read, is that cholesterol deposition, and inflammation play crucial roles in the genesis and progression of coronary artery disease. Further, they are linked.
That is nice. Did you ever stop to think that the relationship is associative and not causative? Cholesterol is a marker. You would be better of at looking at Triglyceride and HDL ratios. These are predictive.

Real butter just plain tastes nicer too. You find yourself needing less of it than you did of margarine.

Eh, I don't have time to grind my own flour from old-fashioned
triticum aestivum like grandma used to use. Could I even find the old-fashioned version anywhere?
(The old stuff is the typical "amber waves of grain" we all heard about, rather than the two-foot tall, fat-headed stuff -- the modern version of triticum aestivum -- that is typically used today.)
So I'm simply avoiding the stuff.

That is a good analogy. The one I use for Statins is a fire department that only puts out the smoke.

I still think it’s the attention to the diet that makes the difference, even if the diet is made of the same wheat. Does the modern wheat have less protein and more starch than the old fashioned wheat? A certain quantity of protein is needed to make it work well in baked goods and pasta, and cooks would be complaining if the new wheat could not live up to this.

There may be something to the GMO hysteria. After all, wheat has been so modified and hybridized beyond what grandma used to bake her bread that it has basically become a noxious weed, even though it still tastes good. After one of my little granddaughters suffered every day for 8 years while doctors and specialists in Maine, Canada, Texas and Florida (military) couldn't pin point it - and pooh poohed my daughter for bringing in printed material from the Internet - A naturopathic doctor at a a health fair, with one drop of her blood, correctly diagnosed it as 'gluten intolerance', exactly what my daughter suspected. From that day on, she has had no pain.
In the process, our family has become 'learned' in regards to gluten. And we are healthier.
It's a growing awareness as witnessed by the 'gluten free' products now in stores.
Also, bob's Red Mill puts out many different gluten free flours. And gluten free recipes abound on the Internet.
On of Bob's Red Mill flours I haven't tried yet, but think I will, is "spelt" - which is, basically what wheat was in Biblical times.

One could be suspicious, reading all your posts, that you are working for/connected to Monsanto/politicians.
Enjoy your chemical laced foods. No one’s stopping you.

I don’t panic over amounts of stuff that wouldn’t kill a flea if all I got of it were concentrated down to flea size. You’re talking about traces that need the most modern equipment to even discern are present.

It’s a shame that the celiac disease (which is also often hereditary) was not spotted by a normal physician, but c’est la vie. Good luck with your gluten free diet. An estimated 0.5% of Americans need one.

“If it were not for the expense, the best choice would be frying at a lower temp and using virgin coconut oil, but it is expensive”
Coconut oil has been recommended as a preventative and partial cure for Alzheimer’s. My wife and I have recently tried it, but it seems to cook differently. She says it’s hard to get it hot enough to fry catfish. It’s $5.95 at Wallyworld, and $5.48 at HEB for almost two pounds. It’s also a great (and cheap) body lotion.

Its a shame that the celiac disease (which is also often hereditary) was not spotted by a normal physician, ...As I said, she has 'gluten intolerance." Altho' similar to celiac, it isn't celiac.
Most doctors treat it as IBS - 'spastic gut' - but far too few diagnose it correctly.

You left out canola (rapeseed) oil. It’s an industrial seed oil. It’s full of Omega 6 fatty acid and it is beyond unhealthy. It’s also in a huge percentage of the processed foods in the grocery store.

Great article....my doctor told me this 5 years ago. Inflammation the worst thing for your heart. That inflammation is brought on by bacteria or viruses or other causes. Best test to get is the inflammation test. What is the inflammation test?
