Newt is in a tough spot. If he wins Alabama and Mississippi next week, it will just confirm the narritave that he's a regional candidate. If he loses, then he won't even have that much.

He can't be too happy about the way the electoral map looks now:

But it also tells all republican voters that Romney can’t win against Obama because he cannot rely on the south and liberal-lite cannot compete against real liberal Obama in the blue states.

First thing first, Newt has to get to brokered convention. If Romney get nominated by getting 51%, there is nothing to speculate or debate. Together Newt and Santorum have to stop Romney then go on to stop Obama.
