In your Son’s instance, the mother was not the hero, God was. Give Him the glory and stop feeling sorry for yourself for not doing what you felt necessary. I certainly do not hold either of them at fault for any of it and will pray for their Faith to strengthen.

After all, He would have sustained the same injuries whether he saved his buddy’ life or not.
Whether or not the media is sensationalizing it, the children were unscathed due to this woman’s heroic actions.

My Husband and I tried to talk to them. They don’t understand how God could possibly test a young baby. I told them that if she (Daughter in Law) would have been anywhere else in that home at the time, they would never have been able to get to my Grandson in time. (He wasn’t breathing when they found him)An emergency room nurse had been visiting someone in the neighborhood when the tornado hit. He performed emergency resuscitation on the baby when he was found. Isn’t that a sign that God was working a miracle?
Thbelieveded that God sometimes tests us to teach us. They are angry. We understand what a shocking scene it was and how horrible it was to see their baby in a coma for a week, on a respirator.
You should tell her that Satan is the one that tried to take the baby by using the storm.
God is the one that protected him from dying by having the right people there at the right time.
Your son and daughter-in-law should remember that the Lord loves their son even more than they do and we need to accept whatever the Lord sends into our lives for our betterment, whether it appears ‘good’ or ‘evil’ to us. I’m not trying to diminish their pain with my comments. I’ve lost a child, but not through the terror of a tornado. I’ve lost close friends, most recently a Navy SEAL who left behind a wife and two tiny sons, but I know that the Lord held my child in His hands and that my young SEAL friend was exactly where the Lord wanted him. The ER nurse visiting near your children’s home was a miracle and God should be praised for such. I’m praying for your family’s healing, both physical and spiritual.

I read this on the same day that the leftist talk show host referred to these people being reduced to grease spots by their “God”.

Because there is evil in the world = therefore God is testing an innocent child is not the logical premise here.
In Paradise original justice existed. This means that the laws of nature did not result in evil (For example a tornado could do no damage, etc.) After the fall and evil was introduced into the garden, the laws of nature were corrupted and natural law could now accidently result in evil, i.e., the death of a child, etc. In heaven, original justice will be restored again and the laws of nature will be restored to their perfect state.
I have read and thought about these things because I lost my first daughter at the age of 7 months. Even though it was many years ago, I understand the first reaction to blame God, it is important to work through this and realize that evil was introduced into this world by the devil.

Probably heroic, but maybe not. It all depends on the particular details of the event. You can’t generalize about such a matter when you don’t know the specifics.

Although I have the greatest and most sincere sympathy for this woman and her family, and although I can thankfully give praise to God that they all survived, her leg injuries are really beside the point.
In other words, it’s not as if she rushed into harm’s way to save her children and lost her legs as a result. She simply took shelter in the basement with the kids, just as any sane and clear-thinking person would have done.
Moreover, it was wonderful that she had the sense of mind to put the children under her own body. But again, that action was not a “heroic” step that exposed her to some greater danger than she otherwise would have faced. It was, rather, very smart and very prescient thinking.
So if you want to call her heroic for being cool, calm, collected and smart in the face of danger, I’m with you. But the tragedy of her losing her legs is basically irrelevant. It just a factoid that gives the news media a “hook” for sensationalism.
I saw this story on GMA. What a brave lady! She has a long recovery ahead, but she has her children and that is what is most important. May God Bless them All.
