WASHINGTON The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits rose last week, a government report showed on Thursday, but not enough to change perceptions that the labor market was strengthening.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 362,000, the Labor Department said. Even with the increase, claims are still near their lowest in four years.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims unchanged at 351,000 last week. The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of labor market trends, edged up 250 to 355,000 - still near a four-year low.
That is not urine on your leg, it is raining.
A headline straight out of “1984.”
Memorandum for the Record
From: Ministry of Truth
To: Lowly Unwashed Masses of New America
Subject: Directed Thought of the Day
As ordered, you are directed to believe the employment situation in New America is continuing to improve, regardless of reports surfacing today that may indicate otherwise.
You are further directed to maintain a countenance of happiness, euphoria and total faith in the benevolent leadership and guidance of The One and His assigns.
Noncompliance with these orders are regarded as crimes against the State and are tantamount to directly offending The One, resulting in swift, natural-cause action against you.
That is all. Proceed with approved activities until promulgation of further direction.
labor dept is full of career Democrats. Michael Barone said a few years ago that upwards of 90% of all govt employees in Washington were Democrats... Need I say more
MSNBC in 1935: "The Dust Bowl storms continued into their 27th month, but not enough to change perceptions that the drought was ending."
MSNBC in 1945: "The two nuclear weapons convinced Japan to surrender, but not enough to change perceptions that the War in the Pacific was ending."
MSNBC actually has negative-credibility.
....and the chocolate ration has been increased from 20 grams to 18 grams.
all of your perception are belong to us.
In other news, gas prices gave me a reach-around the other day.
“Unexpected” has changed to “Seasonal”
If MSDNC is talking about government jobs, they the last half is probably technically correct.
“I like the but not enough to change perceptions that the labor market was strengthening line right behind it, though.’
Title should be: Jobless claims rise, but not enough to change liberal perceptions that Obama is the best POTUS ever.
Recovery? It will be completed when nobody has any weeks left to file for. Then unemployment will be close to zero. What a claim obie can make then huh? My wife is no longer on the books since she quit filing so she must be employed right? How can people keep accepting this crap? Ooops! I forgot. Promises of green jobs must be the cure all. LOL! I think that means envy of those that actually succeed in life which apparently is now a sin of the worst kind. Punishable by higher taxation.

Isn’t that the equivalent of saying a girl is just a little bit pregnant? (i.e. makes no sense to the point of being untrue?
Duncan Hunter on FOX saying, if you factor in everything, the real unemployment number is 10%. He proposing a bill to get the ‘real numbers’ with the people that have given up looking for work factored in. Also, he said there are many people who have gone from their long term good job with good pay, etc, who were laid off and are now working part time just to survive. How do you factor them in? What a mess with this anti-capitalist, anti-small business potus. November 6, 2012 America!
“Jobless claims rise, but labor market healing”
“Fake but Accurate”
I’m sure msnbc would have the exact same headline if a Republican was in office, lmao.
This must be what its like to be on a bad acid trip...only it doesn’t appear to be subsiding.
