In Mississippi, Santorum Makes Case For Two-Man Race By NBC's Andrew Rafferty
JACKSON, Miss. -- Rick Santorum called on Mississippi voters to deliver the knockout blow that would end Newt Gingrich's candidacy and make it a two-man race between Mitt Romney and the former Pennsylvania senator for the Republican nomination.
"You have an opportunity here in Mississippi to narrow this race, narrow this race to a conservative versus the insider moderate. I ask you here tonight to stand with me," Santorum told a crowd of 300 at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum on Wednesday. "If we win Mississippi, this will be a two-person race. And if it is a two-person race, we will nominate a conservative as president of the United States."
The remarks came hours after a Gingrich spokesman said Mississippi and Alabama are must wins for the former Speaker to continue as a viable candidate.
While Santorum and his advisers have not directly called for Gingrich to exit the race, a senior strategist on Tuesday told reporters that they would rally conservative and tea party voters to call on his rival to drop out.
"Red, White, and Blue Fund," the pro-Santorum Super PAC on Wednesday sent out an e-mail urging Gingrich to exit the race.
After narrowly losing to Romney by narrow margins in both Ohio and Michigan, the Sanrtorum campaign placed a renewed emphasis on pushing the argument that Gingrich is taking conservative votes from them. The result, they argue, is an inevitable Romney nomination. Ron Paul also remains in the race and has a strong but small base that has not taken votes from Santorum.

Newtorum or Sangrich? Either one would beat Mitt’s pants off, but they split the conservative vote now.
I’m liking santorum less and less. Santorum is politician to the core. Running for office is what he does.

Furthermore, all he is doing with this kind of nonsense buying into the false meme that Romney is inevitable, he should have done what Newt's team did today and ask that Romney drop out.

The instant this becomes one-on-one the machine is released and we conservatives lose our voice for the rest of the primary, but for lamenting in impotent squeaks.

At some point the Romney-lite man, (Santorum has always supported pro-abortion moderates for President) will fade away. Santorum: “I was basically pro-choice all my life, until I ran for Congress”
In 1996 he endorsed and campaigned for Arlen Specter for President, on the platform to remove the pro-life position from the Republican platform.
Rick Santorum admits that he was pro-abortion until his first run for office, 6 years after supposedly switching, he endorsed Specter’s Presidential run based on driving the pro-life movement out of the GOP.

But, speaking to CNN, Santorum campaign adviser John Brabender brushed off the Romney campaign’s analysis as “voodoo math,” saying the figures were meant to dissuade voters from casting ballots for rival candidates.
“What he is saying he wants to do is disenfranchise Republican primary voters,” Brabender said, pointing out that many of the delegates currently awarded to Romney in estimates were non-binding

Rick is Establishment and has a career record to prove it.
He campaigns to the Right and legislated from Left of center, ingratiated himself to the Establishment to his own bitter end, on the Specter (the abortion voter) deal.
The South needs to get informed and decide whether they are going to let the Rickster drowned out his record favoring unions, with campaign religious voice. Are they going to let him pull that off? Again?
If Obama’s “dangerous”, why would you stay home if Santorum wins the GOP nomination ? I fail to see how that helps our country at a critical time in it’s history !
I agree with you on one thing though. If he DOES (heaven forbid) win the nomination, Obama will indeed “beat him silly”.
Obama fears Newt as he’s a huge intimidating character with a sharp mind. He also fears Romney because Romney (notwithstanding his many other faults) comes across as plausible to the sheeple.

Santorum is on an ego trip, and when he reaches the end of the line he’ll accept the veep spot on the ticket.
At that point he’ll be running for the office in which his most prominent quality will be put to use — the sourpuss will look appropriate at all the elite funerals.
It may be that MS voters aren’t choosing between Santorum and Gingrich at all but between PA and GA even though Gingrich was born in PA and Santorum in their common state of residence, VA. I would expect MS to go Gingrich.
After all the Newtonian huffing and puffing over this, it’s good to note that Santorum asked THE VOTERS to make it a two-man race. Unlike Newt who personally asked Santorum to drop out.
