I also support Newt. And I agree with you. Conservative women don’t like him. Period. And it’s not just church ladies.
Maybe the average person is revolted by you and thus won’t vote for Newt.
If there’s a brokered convention (looking more likely), the lady you’ve disparaged might be proved correct.
You are disgusting and come off like a snot.
guess uninformed voters support a man that talks the talk but has NOT walked the walk
I voted for Newt.
It sounds to me that you just don't get out that much.
I think Newt should withdraw in favor of the only true conservative with a cha- Oh hell, I’m not gonna do that. Once again, anyone who supports Santorum is “ignorant”, “puritanical”, etc.
Cracker please.
“With supporters so divorced from reality, what effective argument can Newt make, and how can he compete?”
Poor choice of words when trying to make the case, however futile it may be, for Newt.
Good post. And good question. I think Newt is done. If southern “Church Ladies” and their ilk are breaking for Santo, I really don’t see what he can do. Maybe this is turning into a beauty contest. Remember Rush’s “Arousal Gappers”?
Santorum's appeal in Ohio has many facets, but he did one thing that Newt failed to do - he campaigned hard here, and he asked for votes. His speeches in my part of the state (the rural, NW section) were packed, in part because social conservatives were enthusiastic about his campaign. A good chunk of rural Ohio is Catholic (me included), and Rick's faith (and lack of scandal in his personal life) had strong appeal, and I think he did a good job connecting with blue collar voters in a way that is hard for Newt (or Romney, especially) to do.
Again, I like newt, but I no longer believe he can win the nomination, and I believe he should drop out and support Santorum.
As an aside, voter turnout in the GOP primary was up strongly from 2008, which had to give Brak the willies. :) This bolsters my theory that Brak will not carry Ohio, regardless of the GOP nominee - the urge to be rid of him is stronger than the dislike of our candidates, all of them.
“well, if God wants Santorum to win, he will win, REGARDLESS OF THE DELEGATES”!
Is that so astonishing? Or ignorant? Once you have an omnipotent God, the above statement is a truism.
Newt has changed dramatically. Here are some FR links about his conversion.

At any rate it really doesn't matter what any of us on FR think or believe; Rick and Newt will decide whether to proceed or retire from the field. The only common denominator is that they will both be asking us to send them lots more money. I will stay w/Newt because I believe his Conservative principles and philosophy are closest to my own and recuse myself from having any opinion on what God's will may or may not be.
Today Virginia Conservatives had to settle for a protest vote for Ron Paul because the GOP has disenfranchised us. How can this be the liberty that Patrick Henry spoke of so eloquently?
I’m a huge Newt supporter and will continue to support him, but
***I’m a huge Santorum supporter and will continue to support him, but... he is a lot like the church lady that Dana Carvey portrays.
Well, he could make light of religion and the American family. That seems to be attractive for some conservatives.
